Is there anything more appetizing than the aroma of freshly baked goods early in the morning? Every time I step into a bakery, I am always instantly drawn to the colorful batches of pastries and cookies. In fact, the very sight of these delicious treats is enough to make my day at any given point. If you feel the same way, then you understand the importance of having a good bakery in the capital. Below is a list of some of our favorite bakeries in Beijing that satisfy our soul and palate.

Michael's German Bakery

Hiding in the little corner of Laiguangying East Road lies a bakery that is easy to miss. The owner is German, and his family have been engaged in the bread baking industry for three generations. Once you step foot in the restaurant, you'll almost feel like you have been transported to the countryside in Europe. Their menu boasts a variety of traditional patisserie and fresh bakes. From brezels to cakes and classic croissants – this place has it all. It also offers lemon tarts that are the perfect balance between tart and sweet. But don't forget to try their onion bread, rye bread and apple cinnamon Danishes that are fresh, delicious and crafted skillfully with utmost perfection.

DAI CO. BAKERY

Situated in the Jiuxianqiao area, this place was opened by the former chef of With Wheat, who left that bakery to open his own business, naming it the DAI CO. BAKERY. Besides the pineapple breads that come with seven different flavors including vanilla oat, matcha red bean, and strawberry, there are chewy slices of toast and apple pies still warm from the oven. Their signature toast is the Dai Toast, which features Thai Longan honey for some extra sweetness to this treat.

Don't ever leave this place without trying their cinnamon roll that is toasted to the perfect crispiness, or the most sought-after item: the Sichuan pepper baguette.
