Chili Eating Contest, Dance Offs, Live Music & More @ Spicy Fest
We hope you are feeling pumped and primed for some mouth-burning fun this weekend because the Hot & Spicy Festival is kicking off tomorrow (Apr 14) at ! We’ve already had a look at all of the delectable food vendors who will be joining us, but filling your stomach and setting your mouth aflame are not the only acitivties to enjoy at the festival.
Along with our 40+ food vendors we also have a great line up of entertainment with our Chili Easting Contest, a Tik Tok Dance Off, live music and more. Check out our full list of entertainment below!
Hot Chili Pepper Eating Contest
Back for its 12th edition, watch sweat and tears pour down the faces of contestants as they try to eat the hottest chili peppers we could find. Or if you want to be more than just an audience member and think you have what it takes to become this year’s Champion of the Chili there is still time to sign up!
We’re looking for 24 people (eight per day) to partake in the contest and this year we're splitting the competition into three divisions:
Friday 7.30pm: Mixed Doubles Division (teams of one man and one woman)
Saturday 3-4pm: Men's Division
Sunday 3-4pm: Women's Division
Each day’s winner will be able to take home fantastic prizes, as well as unfettered bragging rights for being able to chomp down the hottest of the hot and live to tell the tale!
To sign up add TBJButler on WeChat (QR code above) and send your full name, date you’d like to attend, nationality*, phone number, and a short video (between 15 and 45 seconds long, see example below) of you eating something spicy by midnight tonight (Apr 13) to be considered for entry.
Tik Tok Dance Off
If you fancy yourself a Tik Tok dance connoisseur, you can put your moves to the test in our Tik Tok Dance Off Competition.
Competitors will be led in a sexy Tik Tok dance which they will need to follow along. Competitors won’t only be rated on their dance moves but also their memory and coordination, battling it out to be crowned the Tik Tok Dance Off Champion.
Spartan Challenge
Want to burn off some calories from all the spicy food you’ll be indulging in at the festival? Then join one of Spartan’s coaches on the stage and take part in a 20 minute workout to feel the burn in your body as well as your mouth! Plus if you take part you will receive a free Spartan headband!
Reggaeton Flash Mob
Our old friends SAZON Cuban Dance School will be joining us once again and will be bringing their interactive dance set to the stage. SAZON have been delivering the most up-to-beat Cuban dance culture and trends to China since 2016. They consist of professional Cuban dancers whose expertise is not only limited to Cuban dance but popular dance from around the world. When they perform there’s sure to be plenty of laughs and fun.
Do the Hula!
Bringing some early summer vibes to the stage Dance Hula will be putting on a hot dance performance that incorporates both modern Hawaiian hula and traditional Tahitian hula. Founded in 2015, Dance Hula Natural Life Studio specialize in the promotion of Hawaiian Hula dance and music. They have courses for Tahitian dance, beginner to advanced ukulele classes as well as guitar lessons. They are also home to the only Hawaiian music ensemble in Beijing which encompasses ukulele, guitar, Hawaiian steel guitar, bass and piano/keyboard.
Boogaloo Jam Session
Veteran dance studio Fire Phoenix will be heating things up on stage with their range of Latin dance moves. Fire Phoenix have been showing thousands of people the joy of dancing Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Brazilian Zouk, and many other dances for the past 19 years. Leaders in the industry they’ve cultivated countless social dancers, top world performers, and remarkable dance instructors. Along with weekly classes Fire Phoenix also regularly host dance parties in a variety of venues across Beijing.
Gum Bleed
Formed in Beijing all the way back in 2006, Gum Bleed are one of China’s most legendary punk bands. In the past 16 years they’ve released six records and put on over 1,000 live shows at home and abroad. In 2021 they released their new album Punx Save the Human Race which they toured across 40 cities in China.

Hangnail
One of Beijing’s most iconic and influential old-school punk rock bands, Hangnail were founded in 2015. They came together in Beijing’s vibrant and chaotic underground punk rock scene and are determined to speak out through their music.
Chanel & Erin
An acoustic duo, Chanel & Erin are always a big hit with their fun takes on popular songs, as well creative medleys and sing-alongs that never fail to entertain. Featuring tight harmonies and a sharp sense of humor, these two are guaranteed to put on a good show.
DJ Arquitect
If you’ve ever been to a previous Beijinger event then you’ll already be familiar with Cuban DJ Dairon Cardona, AKA DJ Arquitect. One of Beijing’s most popular Latin Music DJs he plays a mix of Latin, Afro, Caribbean and house music to create great energy on the dance floor.
DJ Ennoe Alpha
DJ Ennoe-Alpha joined the entertainment scene in 2018. He taught himself how to blend in mixed tracks from listening to superstar DJs and auto radio stations in numerous DJ mixes and has dominated the popular Afrobeat hip-hop and reggae environment ever since. He blends a mix of tracks from genres such as reggae, reggae dub step, Afrobeats, deep house and funky house.
DJ Erick
DJ Erick has been studying the DJ industry since he was 16 years old and has now been DJiing for more than ten years. He is always eager to learn and grow and plays a range of music including R&B, Hip Hop, Pop, Africa, Latin, etc.
