Attend a Footie Tournament for Charity This Saturday
This weekend come enjoy some football fun while also raising money for a good cause.
On Saturday (Apr 29) Dulwich College will be hosting a charity football tournament to raise funds for the Schools and Health Foundation (SHF), an organization that builds schools and improves health care in Africa.
The tournament promises to be an exciting battle of skill and stamina as eight local Beijing teams take to the field to compete for a good cause. The eight teams involved in the competition are Forbidden City, Afrika United, Red Cards, Summer Palace, ISB, FC Post Beijing, Beijing Rockets and Zim Warriors.
The tournament kicks off at noon and runs until 4pm. There will also be vendors on site with Paddy O’Shea’s, basil and Bistro 108 serving refreshments. It is an excellent opportunity for families, friends, and fans of the beautiful game to come together and enjoy some exciting football while supporting a great cause.
SHF is a non-profit organization set up by Irishman John Mitchell. With over 30 years’ experience working as a fundraising director for projects in Africa, Mitchell decided to set up his own charity when he retired. Since being founded the charity has built numerous schools, funded scholarships and installed clean water in a number of villages, along with a variety of other achievements.

In 2022 SHF spent half a million euros on a variety of projects in Sierra Leone, Malawi, Cameroon and Liberia, with total funding reaching 570, 000 euros by December 2022. They are now aiming to raise 2,500 euros to provide desks for a new school block in Tukuyu, Malawi, and to provide football kits and footballs for a team in Geisha Community where SHF has funded two school blocks. You can find out more about SHF by visiting their website www.schoolsandhealthfoundation.com.
As the players take to the field, supporters are encouraged to make donations to the Schools and Health Foundation. However, if you’re unable to make it to the match you can also donate to the charity by scanning the QR code below.
SHF’s Men's Football 7-A-Side Tournament will be taking place at Dulwich College on Apr 29 from noon to 4pm.
