Shanghai 'Lujiazui Sex Tape' Goes Viral, Gets Censored
A very NSFW video showing two people having sex inside a Shanghai hotel overlooking the Lujiazui skyline became yesterday's most viral video on Chinese social media, prompting censors to scrub it from the interwebs.
The 30-second sex tape, filmed by the male, depicts the pair having intercourse while the Pearl Tower and other famous Shanghai buildings loom in the background. The video was so widely viewed and shared on social media that Weibo issued an official statement last night stating that 26 videos and 570 threads on the video had been deleted from the site. Weibo also said that it would cooperate with authorities in their investigation of the video's source.
But the video still spread widely on WeChat.
While there's been no official mention of the video on Chinese news sites, the flesh engine search has kicked in and reportedly already identified the video's female participant. Her name, photo and personal information have unfortunately already been widely shared through the crowdsourced search.
This isn't the first time a sex tape has gone viral on Chinese social media. The infamous "Uniqlo sex tape" filmed in Beijing broke the Chinese Internet last year as authorities raced to scrub it entirely from the web.
