The New Yan'an Lu Tram is Going to be Tram-tastic
By Ned Kelly
Today in totally awesome transport news, Shanghai is building a 17.5-kilometer tram running the entire length of the Yan'an Lu elevated highway. As of January 7, a journey from the Bund to the Western reaches of civilization (Minhang District) will only take about an hour.
The track will run down the center of Yan'an, underneath the gaojia, from the Huqingping Highway and Shenkun Lu all the way to Zhongshan Dong Yi Lu and the Bund.
Yup, all of them.
It will have 25 stops in total. A delightful little rendering can be seen above – platforms will be in the central reservation. The capacity of the 18-meter-long tram is 150 people. We think they will look like these ones out at Pudong's Zhangjiang High Tech Park...
Tram-bloody-tastic!
(And ours is longer than Beijing's one).
