WTF! Female Urinals Installed at Chinese University
By Rachel Deason
In an effort to save water, one university in Shaanxi province has installed urinals in the women’s restrooms of its two campuses.
Pictures of the urinals began circulating online after they were posted by the WeChat account Xi'an Live. The urinals look identical to their male counterparts, inviting questions of how women should functionally approach them.
The university claims that the urinals will help them save 160 tons of water every day, although we’re not sure how their water usage is so different from that of the squatty potties of yore.
If you’re a gender traditionalist, fret not at this recent development. The stalls around the urinals have been painted pink to ensure arbitrary gender stereotypes perpetuate beyond this environmental measure.
