Apple just released a new video ad to promote iPhone 7 Plus' 'Portrait' feature, shot entirely in China. As Hollywood has learned, when China is your key market, you've gotta include a Chinese element in there somewhere.
According to the ad, the iPhone camera's new Portrait mode has the power to wipe out all of mankind with one simple swipe.

In the video, a smitten young couple appears to have downtown Shanghai all to themselves, goofing around spectacular ghost town versions of the Bund, Yu Garden and Lujiazui. Talk about tapping into our deepest fantasies!
In reality, the Portrait mode is a simple background blur effect, utilizing the iPhone’s two back cameras to mimic a telescopic lens, causing the foreground subject to pop out.
The question is, how'd they shoot the ad? Was everyone gone for Spring Festival?
