That's Shanghai takes a look at the best art exhibitions of the week:

L’Etranger Mélancolie

This exhibit at Long Musuem’s Pudong Branch showcases Chinese artists who moved West during La Belle Epoque and then after the Revolution of 1911, fusing their sensibilities with Western art techniques like impressionism and fauvism, while retaining a uniquely Chinese perspective. Paintings by Lin Fengmian, Wu Dayu, San Yu, Pan Yuliang, Yan Wenliang and Su Tianci are on display.
Until July 8, Long Museum Pudong. No. 210, 2255 Luoshan Lu, by Huamu Lu 罗山路2255弄210号, 近花木路

Stone Flesh

The latest exhibit from painter Hu Zi, who is celebrated for her vibrant oil paintings of rock musicians, literary greats, and artists who have an impact on her, explores themes of identity and art history through a series of portraits of Pink Floyd guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour juxtaposed with caricatures of Michaelangelo's David.
Until Jun 30, Don Gallery. Unit 302, 2879 Longteng Avenue 龙腾大道2879号302室

A Beautiful Elsewhere

This diverse and evocative exhibition offers 100 artworks from the Fondation Cartier pour l'art Contemporain collection of international art. The show spans several multidisciplinary artistic worlds: photography with Daido Moriyama and Raymond Depardon, painting with Cheri Samba, film with David Lynch and Beat Takeshi Kitano, design with Marc Newson and Alessandro Mendini, and sculpture with Ron Mueck and Sarah Sze, plus plus Chinese contemporary artists Gao Shan, Hu Liu,  Li Yongbin, Cai Guo-Qiang and Huang Yong Ping.

Shanghai by Erwin Olaf

The noted Dutch photographer, known for his evocative, glamorous works and their dark undertones, debuts this study of Shanghai as the second of a three-part series exploring cities in transition. Its use of historic Shanghai buildings and focus on the agency of young women are highlights.

Rain Room

The acclaimed Rain Room installation, which was a sensation in Shanghai back in 2015 and attracted over 200 thousand people, is coming back to the city this year. Occupying an area of 150 square meters, the large-scale environment can perpetually generate falling water while visitors can walk through it without getting wet. Head there to experience the wonder and don't forget to take some stunning and surreal selfies.
Until Oct 14, Yuz Museum. 35 Fenggu Lu, by Longteng Dadao 丰谷路35号, 近龙腾大道

Xu Qu: Ache

Jiangsu-born artist Xu Qu puts on his latest solo show in Shanghai at Antenna Space. The exhibition explores the concept of “aching” as a feeling without a beginning or end. Highlights include an installation of a latrine built into the gallery and a series of shattered screens and broken glass as a commentary on the ruthlessness of society.
Until Jun 3, Antenna Space. Rm202, Bldg 17, 50 Moganshan Lu, by Changhua Lu 莫干山路50号17号楼2层, 近昌化路
