Dear Comrades, Fellow Citizens and Friends:

      新年伊始，万象更新！在这辞旧迎新的美好时刻，我谨代表长宁区人民政府，向全区人民和所有关心支持长宁发展的海内外朋友，致以诚挚的祝福和新年的问候！

At the beginning of the New Year, everything takes on a completely new look! On this occasion of leaving the old and welcoming the new, I, on behalf of the Changning District People’s Government, extend my best wishes and New Year’s greetings to the people of Changning and all our friends from home and abroad who care about and support the development of Changning District.

      过去的一年是极不寻常、极不平凡的一年，党的二十大胜利召开，全面建设社会主义现代化国家开启新征程。这一年，我们在市委、市政府和区委的坚强领导下，高效统筹疫情防控和经济社会发展，全区上下团结一心，全力抗击突发疫情，共同守护我们的家园，与全市人民一起迎来了大上海保卫战的胜利。

The past year was extraordinary. The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was successfully held, opening a new journey to comprehensively build a modern socialist country.

During the past year, under the strong leadership of the municipal Party committee, the municipal government and the district Party committee, we effectively coordinated the pandemic prevention and control and economic and social development. The whole district united to fight against the outbreak of the pandemic, protect our homeland together, and ushered in the victory of the Great Shanghai Defense War with the people of the city.

       这一年，面对异常严峻的经济形势，我们以超常规的力度和举措推动区域经济恢复重振，地区生产总值率先实现翻正，诞生了2022年全市首幢税收百亿楼。这一年，我们加快人民城市建设，全力实施民心工程和为民办实事项目，百年中山公园与百年华政校园实现融合开放。

During the past year, in the face of an extremely severe economic situation, we used extraordinary efforts and measures to promote the recovery and revitalization of the regional economy. The gross domestic product of the district was the first to be positive, and the city’s first office building with its tenants contributing more than 10 billion yuan of tax revenue in 2022 was in Changning.

During the past year, we accelerated the construction of the people’s city, fully implemented projects to improve people’s livelihoods, and realized the merge of the unwalled spaces of the centennial Zhongshan Park and the Changning campus of the East China University of Political Science and Law and their opening to the public.

       2023年是全面贯彻落实党的二十大精神的开局之年，站在新的历史起点上，我们将探索推进中国式现代化长宁新实践，贯彻落实市、区党代会决策部署，深入实施“十四五”规划，加快建设具有世界影响力的国际精品城区。

The year of 2023 is the first year to comprehensively implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Standing at a new historical starting point, we will explore and promote Chinese path to modernization in Changning in a new practice, implement the decisions and arrangements of the municipal and district Party congresses, deeply implement the “14th Five-Year Plan,” and accelerate the construction of an international community of excellence with global influence.

      我们将坚持发展第一要务，抢抓战略新机遇，培育发展新动能，持续优化产业结构和营商环境，不断激发市场新活力，推动经济高质量发展。我们将着眼居民群众“急难愁盼”，扎实办好民生实事，不断增进民生福祉，努力让长宁群众享有更优质的公共服务、更优美的生活环境、更优良的治理体验。

We will adhere to the top priority of development, seize new strategic opportunities, cultivate new drivers of development, continue to optimize the industrial structure and business environment, constantly inspire new vitality of the market, and promote high-quality economic development.

We will focus on the “urgent needs and anxieties” of the residents, do a solid job of improving people’s livelihoods, constantly improve people’s wellbeing, and strive to make Changningers enjoy better public services, better living environment, and better experience with governance.

      逐梦新征程、奋斗创未来。让我们团结起来，在市委、市政府和区委的领导下，迎难而上、奋勇拼搏，全力谱写长宁经济社会发展新篇章！衷心祝愿长宁的前景更加灿烂，人民的生活更加美好！

Pursue a new journey and strive for a better future. Let’s unite, under the leadership of the municipal Party committee, the municipal government and the district Party committee, to rise to the challenge and work hard to write a new chapter in Changning’s economic and social development! I sincerely wish Changning a brighter future and a better life for the people!
