Wake Forest University Launches Global Explorer Programwith Dulwich International High School Suzhou

ulwich International High School Suzhou was recently selected as the partner for the Wake Forest University Global Explorer program. On January 8 the school welcomed academic representatives from Wake Forest University to sign the cooperation agreement which will give students the opportunity to study with a professor from Wake Forest University this summer. Wake Forest University, founded in the US in 1834, has been developing the Global Explorer program to bring a top university course to a High School environment. This is the first year that the Wake Forest University Global Explorer program, will work with a High School outside of the United States. 

Dulwich International High School Suzhou have invited Dr. Carole Gibson, professor of Biology from Wake Forest University, to teach “The Brave New World of Biotechnology”. Guided by the professor, students will explore the applications of biotechnologies including genetic testing, synthetic biology, alternative fuels, and anti-microbial drug development. Students will be given set reading, conduct research, write papers and will be asked to give presentations on their findings.

“We are excited to work with Dulwich International High School Suzhou as both of our institutions are innovative, collaborative, quality-driven, student-centered, and mutually respected,” said Dr. Kline Harrison, Vice Provost of Global Affairs from Wake Forest University.

Wake Forest University is honored and excited to partner with Dulwich International High School Suzhou to offer the Explorer Program on the Dulwich campus this summer. It will be a tremendous opportunity for the professor to learn more about Chinese culture and Dulwich's education by engaging with strong students, and it will provide students the chance to experience a prestigious university course, so that they are best prepared for their future collegiate academic endeavors."

苏州德威国际高中与维克森林大学探索者项目达成独家合作

州德威国际高中被美国维克森林大学选中，成为全球第一家与其探索者项目正式合作的国际高中。1月8日，来自美国维克森林大学学术代表与苏州德威国际高中就该项目的成立正式签约。今年夏天，学生即可有机会跟随维克森林大学教授学习。维克森林大学建于1834年，其环球探索者项目旨在帮助学生在进入大学前提前体验和专注于学术上的过渡和衔接，以顺利融入国际化大学课程。今年是维克森林大学与美国国外高中合作探索者项目的第一年。

苏州德威国际高中邀请了维克森林大学生物学教授、博士Carole Gibson就“勇敢应对新生物技术“为题授课。在教授的指导下，学生将探索生物技术的应用，包括基因检测、合成生物学、可替代能源和抗微生物药物发展。学生还将进行指定阅读、从事研究、拽写论文等任务，并最终将展示他们的发现。

维克森林大学全球推广和研究室主任Nelson Brunsting先生说：

“研究表明，当学生在每个时期只专注于一个过渡或转型方面时，他们将得到最佳收获。因此，本次探索者项目，我们希望学生只关注学术上的过渡与衔接，无须关注诸如出国参加课程项目时需考虑的安全、交通、食宿等问题，因为学生的学习环境就在他们熟悉的中国苏州德威国际高中校园里。在我们提供的课程里，您可以预见本次项目的学习任务还是比较重的！
