That’s so true. Without creativity, we human beings might still be apes fighting for food and water resources.  

But how to cultivate creativity? How to train people to think about questions in a new way or come up with new ideas? 

French artist and art teacher Marianne Daquet is exploring it through her approach of ART. 

She founded Atelier in 2012, an art school to trigger creative sparkles and pass on her strong belief that creativity can make the change in

everyone’s life. Atelier has since then evolved into a comprehensive educational project including Atelier Art School and Atelier Fablab. 

Today, FM Lifestyle will take you to their school to have a look.

The classroom of Atelier Art School is more like a studio than a typical classroom. Various art supplies on shelves are accessible for kids.

The classes are relaxing and individually focused. 

Teachers of Atelier Art School must obtain a master degree in Fine Arts and teach lessons in English or French.

Atelier Fablab is a hub of creative education and technological experimentation.

Kids with zero experiences start from scratches, step by step and eventually will be able to make accessories, table lights and house models and even invent something much more complicated by themsleves.

Louis is a 17 year-old senior high school student who is about to enter universities. He proudly showed us an innovative engineering project he was working on, which was called CNC Milling Machine, a machine making machine. 

Now after five and a half years, Atelier has gained a good reputation for its creative and innovative education in Beijing. It aims to foster creativity, confidence and autonomy to make the students play an active role in a changing world.

Marianne Daquet, founder and principal of Atelier shares the recipe of developing creativity:

1\ open the mind. Let students understand the pleasure to create things.

2\ Give them a path. Teach them techniques and then push them a little bit.

3\ Students go back home, do it again and get creativity!
