水乡上的都市

——气候变化与景观都市主义策略

 


China is presently one of the most ambitious countries in the world with regards tohaving policies which tackle climate change. Yet it must be matched by the precise understanding of science, the close reading of space at a number ofscales and creative and out-of-the-box alternatives to future habitation andstructuring of the territory.

中国是世界范围内推动气候变化政策实施的重要角色之一,拥有远大的目标和执行力。然而,其政策必须基于对科学的精确理解,与空间以及未来人类居住格局的创造性和多样化相匹配。

 

The Yangtze River Delta is amongst the earth’s most densely inhabited and economically productive areas. At the same time, it is inherently one of the most vulnerable territories with regards to climate change. Its water and food security, entire areas of human settlement and transport are at stake.

长江三角洲是地球上人口最密集、经济最富饶的地区之一。同时,它也是气候变化影响下最脆弱的地区之一。水资源和粮食安全,人类居住以及交通都面临着威胁。

 

Duringtwo weeks, an international group of 17 students have been exploring theYangtze River Delta from Lake Taihu to the East Sea.  Along this 5km x 140km west to east transect, they investigated four specific 5km x 5km sites (Guangfu,Luzhi, Anting, Pudong), critically documenting their condition through interpretative paintings, notated plans and sections. They interrogated each site’s capacity to adapt to the predicted consequences of climate change through the formulation of provocative questions.

在两周的时间里,一个由17名学生组成的国际团队从太湖到东海对长三角进行了为期12天的调研。沿着这条5km x140km自西向东的线路,他们调查了4个5km x 5km地块(光福—甪直—安亭—浦东),通过图示,标注,文字描述详细记录了沿线情况。他们通过对调研问题的询问和汇总,研究不同地点对可能出现的气候变化的承载能力。

 

The exhibition of the fieldwork is meant to initiate a lively discussion with local experts. Itis envisioned that the complexity of issues raised will lead to a discussion ofpossible strategies for climate change adaptation and the ways in which designand creative thinking must be part of the necessary ‘game-changers’ for a paradigm shift in the future ofoccupying urban deltas. Upon return to Europe, the KU Leuven students willfocus on the development of design responses to climate change, potentially including the development of soft infrastructure strategies, new morphologies, typologies and productive landscapes andthe reinterpretation of indigenous methods.

调研成果的展览旨在与当地专家展开热烈的讨论。可以想象,所提出的问题的复杂性会引发应对气候变化的策略的讨论,设计与创造性思维将会在未来影响长三角,成为转变固有思想的必要催化剂。鲁汶大学的学生将重点关注城市设计如何应对气候变化的发展,包括发展软性基础设施,新的景观类型以及因地制宜的地方化策略。
