Website Editor
We are looking for a vibrant and experienced website editor to deliver quality content for our digital news platform.
Chinese New Zealand Herald Limited, (a joint venture company between New Zealand Herald and the Chinese Herald) launched a news website in Chinese, invites suitable candidates for the role as website editor/translator.
Key responsibilities and expectations will include:
Writing and editing new articles, daily news and feature stories in online media on topics of public interest;
Reviewing and proof reading copy of publication produced by colleagues or freelancers to ensure acceptable format, style, and accuracy, legality of content;
Discussing and updating daily news on Website content with high editorial standards, make sure the site content is kept up to date;
Researching and developing interesting and engaging content for website and Official WeChat Account;
Monitoring and analysing output of social media, and collecting newsworthy events from investigations and observations of different channel;
Directing and making decisions on the specific content of publications with other editors and in accordance with editorial policies and guidelines;
Having a dedicated can-do attitude and work ethic;
Flexible and adaptable to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Key qualifications and experience:
Degree Qualified in Communication or Journalism preferred
Excellent writing, editing and translating skills both in Chinese and English
An in-depth knowledge of social platforms
Experience using Adobe Photoshop & InDesign preferred
A full, clean NZ drivers licence preferred.
