Research Assistantship Positions in Computational Materials Science at the University of Maryland-College Park
Research Assistantship opening for Ph.D. candidates enrolling for Spring 2018 are available at Professor Yifei Mo’s group, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD). Prof. Mo’s group aims to advance the understanding, design, and discovery of engineering materials through cutting-edge computational techniques. We target critical materials problems that impede high-impact technologies, such as energy storage, conversion, and efficiency. In our research, the computational modeling provides enhanced fundamental scientific insights, and enables the ability to rationally design new materials. The candidate will be seeking a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering (starting Spring/Fall 2018 semester). The research project will mainly focus on the ab initio quantum mechanical modeling and large-scale atomistic modeling of advanced materials for the next-generation energy storage and conversion technology. The ideal candidate will have basic programming skills and knowledge of materials science or solid-state physics, but highly motivated applicants with varied background will be considered.
