Brief Introduction
The Max Planck Encyclopedia of Comparative Constitutional Law (MPECCoL) is a comprehensive online resource containing analytical comparative articles offering a global overview of constitutional law. Developed with constitutional lawyers, academics, and students in mind, the encyclopedia provides seamless navigation between encyclopedia articles, linking to commentaries and instruments from the Oxford Constitutions of the World and US Constitutional Law products, and through reference pages on the Oxford Law Citator.
While Oxford Constitutional Law offers Oxford’s leading constitutional law books, comprehensive and updated constitutional texts, and jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction commentary on those primary materials, MPECCoL provides a high level of analytical coverage of constitutional law topics in a comparative context. The articles address a focused range of topics that provide the best coverage of the essence, character, development, and history of constitutional law from a global perspective. The articles will define and cover the basis and foundations of state formation and constitutional law, as well as analysing and explaining on a global comparative perspective the underlying legal concepts such as: human rights; constitutional formation; scope of state protections; the defining structures of governmental makeup; types of legal structures and interactions within a constitutional law system; and legal constitutional concepts that make up constitutional law.
