The event will take place at Château de Chenonceau, the Loire Valleycastle also known as the Château des Dames.

Chanel first began staging Métiers d’art shows back in2002, to highlight the unique skills of a rare collection of artisan houses with the group, specialists in embroidery, millenary, pearls, boot-making,feather and other generally specialist skills.

At its heart is Frenchsavoir-faire has, resources like Maison Michel for hats; Causse Gantier for gloves; boots by Massaro; costume jewelry by Goossens and Lemarié for feathersand flowers.

Since its debut almost two decades ago, the house has staged audacious shows in such far flung locations as Rome, Salzburg, Bombay, and New York. K11 MUSEA unveils K11 Art & Cultural Centre

Retail in Asia

K11 Art & Cultural Centre

Erwin Wurm

Katharina Grosse

Since the launch of K11 MUSEA last year, many wondered whether there is a secret floor below the rooftop Bohemian Garden.

The K11 Art & Cultural Centre at K11 MUSEA’s sixth floor – a new multi-purpose cultural space spanning over 105,000 sq. ft. featuring a collection of international artworks from the likes of Mary Weatherford, Erwin Wurm, and Yayoi Kusama is now open.

The new 6F curation reflects the city’s waterfront cultureand represents the fluid exchange of ideas in a multicultural, multilingual society like Hong Kong.

Every corner of 6F at K11 MUSEA presents itself with imaginative pieces of art from the world over. Curated museum art pieces by acclaimed artists such as Chris HUEN Sin Kan, Sterling Ruby, Mary Weatherford, Matthias Weischer, Yayoi Kusama and Turner Prize winner Oscar Murillo can be discovered throughout the sixth floor while magnificent sculptures by Katharina Grosse, Tatiana Trouvé and Erwin Wurm, await outside at K11 Sculpture Park.

The latest evolution to the K11 MUSEA art collection canbe found on 6F. Highlights of this incredible curation include The Moment of Regeneration by Yayoi Kusama, a monumental work that captures the psychological state of human nature in the modern age.

Other key highlights include local artist Chris HUEN SinKan’s Trees, which draws inspiration from the charm and beauty of common place happenings, and Turner Prize winner Oscar Murillo’s día mundial de las aves migratorias which translates into “World Migratory Bird Day” and consists of elements that are inspired by different cultures and regions.

Extending the theme of the city’s waterfront culture, theK11 Sculpture Park stirs the senses with three majestic sculptures by acclaimed artists Katharina Grosse, Tatiana Trouvé and Erwin Wurm. The vision of this outdoor space is to bring a sense of discovery and offer a place to relax and appreciate the arts.

Erwin Wurm’s body of work evokes the absurdity found inmundane actions of everyday life, addressing sculptural issues that relate to the human body. With Half Big Suit (Verschnittskulptur-Serie), a suited figureis manipulated and fixed in an almost comical position with a leg extended in the air and half of his upper body missing.

Known for creating artwork that challenges conventional notions of what a painting can be, Katharina Grosse’s abstract composition can turn into a three-dimensional experience. Grosse employs a spray gun that functions as an extension of her body so that the painting proceeds at the same time as her physical movement.

Refolding by Tatiana Trouvé depicts a sculpture that casts emergency blankets and packing boxes used to transport works in bronze and concrete. This radical transformation folds the objects back into themselves, one unfolds the temporal extent of their means of existence.

Coming to K11 Art & Cultural Centre, Long Time No See is the first solo showcase in Hong Kong for visionary French artist NeïlBeloufa.

The Gourmet Chamber of K11 Art & Cultural Centre will debut as a culinary hotspot with a diverse range of restaurants and bars –including COBO HOUSE, COUCOU Reserve, Fine Wine Experience, Sushi Watatsumi and TeaMiTea – opening in phases alongside the incredible artwork on display.

Amazon launches invite-only Luxury Stores, with Oscar dela Renta being the first store

Cpp-Luxury

As the pandemic accelerates dramatic change across the retail sector, the launch of Amazon’s invite-only Luxury Stores will  change the high-end playing field at a time when department stores and traditional names are suffering. But it remains to be seen whether luxury customers will embrace expensive items on Amazon in the same way that they have basics.

No matter what, it’s a powerful, long-awaited move — and one that will get major attention. Oscar de la Renta will be the first high-end shop on Amazon. The storied American fashion house’s space will feature pre-fall and fall ’20 ready-to-wear, handbags, jewelry, accessories and a new perfume. Children’s styles will also roll out soon.

Moving into the rest of 2020 and beyond, Amazon said the retail concept will feature both established and emerging fashion and beauty brands.

Luxury Stores will be available in the Amazon app byinvitation only. The retailer said it will use some of the proven tech tools it has relied on to build the rest of the site, like its “View in 360” platform. It will roll out with select styles at launch.

Across the Luxury Stores platform, brands will sell their own merchandise as a store-within-a-store experience. Amazon said that brands independently make decisions regarding their inventory, selection, and pricing, and the retailer offers the merchandising tools.

“We are always listening to and learning from our customers, and we are inspired by feedback from Prime members who want the ability to shop their favourite luxury brands in Amazon’s store,” said Christine Beauchamp, president of Amazon Fashion, in a statement.

Invited shoppers can scroll through exclusive styles from Oscar de la Renta throughout the season. In addition, they can receive early access to the fall/winter 2020 collection, which is currently only available in Oscar de la Renta’s boutiques and website.

Amazon has continued to see astounding growth during — and because of — the pandemic, with second-quarter sales and earnings besting expectations. Revenues hit $88.9 billion in the second quarter alone.
