Beijing Forestry University (BFU) is a national key university directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education, jointly established by the Ministry of Education, National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality. It is the first batch of key universities of "Project 211" ,the pilot university in the national program of "The Innovation Platform for Prioritized Academic Disciplines" ,and the national "Double First-Class" university.
The history of BFU can be traced back to 1902 when the Forestry Department of the Agricultural Division of the Imperial University of Peking was established. In 1960, it was listed as a key national university. In 1996, it was listed as the first batch of universities of "Project 211". In 2017, it ranked among the construction of "Double First-Class" Discipline Universities and two disciplines, Forestry and Landscape Architecture, were on the shortlist of "Double First-Class" discipline. In 2021, it was successfully approved to construct Xiong'an Campus, and became the first batch of universities to locate a new campus in Xiong'an. In 2022, it ranked among the second-round construction of "Double First-Class" Discipline Universities and its two disciplines, Forestry and Landscape Architecture, were on the second-round shortlist of "Double First-Class" discipline.
School of Landscape Architecture
The School of Landscape Architecture at Beijing Forestry University (BFU) is the birthplace of modern landscape education in China, which can be traced back to 1951 when the "Gardening Group" was jointly founded by the Department of Horticulture of Beijing Agricultural University and the Department of Construction of Tsinghua University, and in 1956 when the national faculties were adjusted to the Beijing Forestry College (the predecessor of Beijing Forestry University). After the restructuring of the national faculties to Beijing Forestry College (the former Beijing Forestry University) in 1956, it went through the establishment of the Department of Urban and Residential Greening and the Department of Landscape Architecture, and at the end of 1992, the first School of Landscape Architecture was set up in China. In 2018, the School of Landscape Architecture launched the first international assessment of landscape architecture discipline in China, and agreed by the international assessment experts that "Landscape Architecture at Beijing Forestry University has ambitious goals and occupies a strong leadership position in China."
The School has formed a cluster of innovative disciplines on human settlement environment with landscape architecture as its main focus. The School now has three disciplines, including landscape architecture, architecture, urban and rural planning, and the interdisciplinary discipline of ecological environment of urban and rural human settlements. The landscape architecture ranked first in the national first-class discipline assessment of the Ministry of Education in 2012, and received A+ in the national first-level discipline assessment of the Ministry of Education in 2016. Landscape architecture, in support with urban and rural planning and architecture was listed as the National First-Class Construction Disciplines in 2017. In 2018, it was listed as one of the first-class disciplines jointly built by Beijing and central universities. In 2019, the School established the High-precision Discipline of Beijing University of Urban and Rural Human Settlement Environment based on landscape architecture. In 2022, landscape architecture was again listed as the National First-Class Construction Disciplines.
The School has produced renowned experts and outstanding talents. In the field of landscape architecture, our School has produced academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, namely Wang Juyuan, Chen Junyu, Meng Zhaozhen, and Asia's first recipient of the Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award, Sun Xiaoxiang. Currently, the School has two national level talents, one winner of China Youth Science and Technology Award, one national engineering survey and design master, eight teaching masters of Beijing and National Forestry and Grassland Administration, two new-century outstanding talents of the Ministry of Education, one National Forestry and Grassland Administration Leading Talents in Forestry and Grassland Technology Innovation,one young scientific and technological talent from the Ministry of Natural Resources, two Young Elite Scientists Sponsorship Program by CAST, seven winners of Baosteel Education Award,Two Winner of the National Innovation Excellence Awards, and one Exemplary individual in National Textbook Construction. RECRUITMENT PROCESS
High-level Talent Recruitment:
The School of Landscape Architecture and University will select and assess applicants according to the relevant provisions of BFU's high-level talent recruitment policy, and determine the recommended candidates.
Faculty Recruitment:
1. Assessment and Evaluation:
The School will arrange specific assessment plans, including evaluating teaching abilities (teaching demonstrations), assessing academic innovation capabilities, conducting psychological tests, and other relevant assessment activities. After decision-making within the School, a list of proposed candidates will be submitted to the university. Specific assessment details, timing, and requirements will be notified separately.
2. University Review, Evaluation, and Approval:
Relevant departments of the university will review the resumes and materials of the proposed candidates submitted by the School. They will organize expert evaluations and submit the selected candidates for university approval.
3. Medical Examination, Ideological and Political Assessment, Public Announcement, and Contract Signing:
The University will arrange medical examinations for approved candidates. The School will conduct ideological and political assessments concurrently. The list of approved candidates who pass all assessment will be announced on the University's website. If there are no objections during the announcement, the Personnel Department will organize the signing of relevant agreements and start the procedures for receiving in accordance with BFU's policies.
RELEVANT INSTRUCTIONS
1. Applicants for faculty positions must first complete their personal resumes and then select the desired position for application. When filling out the resume, it is necessary to truthfully provide personal information.
