Online Winter Camp Program

This program aims to provide a further understanding of the Chinese language and culture for overseas students. This ten-day program is free of charge and a Certificate of Study will be issued after the completion of the courses. Welcome to the Winter Camp!

Ⅵ.Learning Requirements

A laptop or desktop computer with camera and microphone, which has a good internet connection, should be prepared to ensure the efficiency of your online study.

During your online study in ZUFE, you should observe the school rules and regulations, and follow the teaching schedule provided by the university.

Students who fail to meet the attendance requirements will not be able to acquire the certificate of completion.

Ⅶ.About the Program

The curriculum of the program is divided into 4 themed units (namely, Clothing, Food, Housing and Transportation), with each unit containing two or three lessons. Every lesson includes four parts, that is, ‘Video Introduction to topics’, ‘Chinese Language Learning’, ‘Culture Stories’ and ‘Online Classroom Interaction’.‘Amazing Talent Show’ will also be integrated in each unit, in which participants showcase ancient poetry, calligraphy, local opera, tea art, cooking art, paper-cutting, costume show, etc. The program will present a vivid online tour of China by which we hope overseas students will know China more, understand China more, love China more!

1. Highly integrated curriculum resource system of “Chinese traditional culture + modern civilization”

Each unit, on the one hand, starts from discovering Chinese traditional culture, and concentrates on the changes of clothing, food, housing and transportation as well as cultural characteristics to create special cultural courses such as costumes, tea, umbrellas and fans. On the other hand, the modern civilization of Hangzhou, such as the intelligent life of the Internet, entrepreneurship and innovation by scanning QR code is displayed in a digital and modern way. Overseas students will be able to fully appreciate a contemporary China where tradition and modernity meet and melt.

2. "Fun + interactive + experiential" online language and culture teaching

Each unit follows the "self-constructed" language and culture teaching concept to build a diverse teaching path. On-site guided videos are filmed to give students a sense of immediacy during field trips, inspiring narration leads to immersive thinking, carefully designed cultural stories stimulate curiosity, and funny online interactions allow students to experience together. Chinese language learning is organically embedded into the series of experiences and interactions, while each section has a separate language module highly relevant to the topic, leading to the learning of ancient poems or Chinese vocabulary related to contemporary civilization.

3. Implement the teaching mode of “large-sized class platform video teaching” + “small-sized class online interactive teaching”

The video learning part of each session is taught on a large-sized class platform, and the video learning resources of each unit are released on the official website and APP of Chinese Bridge, with interactive elements and language learning embedded in the videos for students to learn autonomously. In the online real-time teaching session, small-sized classes are conducted, with the number of students in each online class no more than 35 to ensure an interactive learning experience.
