校长致全校的一封公开信

亲爱的格拉斯哥大学大家庭中的每一位学生、员工、校友、家长及合作伙伴们：

自1886年，格拉斯哥大学迎来第一名中国留学生至今，与中国一直保持着紧密而深厚的联系。当下新型冠状病毒疫情的发展牵动着每个人的心，值此艰难时刻，我真挚的希望通过这封信向我们中国的朋友传递一份来自格拉斯哥大学的支持和祝愿，一份温暖与信念。

疫情的传播势必让很多人担忧、牵挂着在中国的家人和朋友。在格拉斯哥大学我们已经第一时间采取多项措施确保学生和员工获得所有必要的帮助和指导。同时我们也在密切关注事态的发展变化，并将持续遵循英国政府指导意见给予大家支持。

目前在英国有三例确诊的感染病例，格拉斯哥大学校园内的风险仍然很低。这段时间大学与英国外交部、公共卫生署和大学内部学生健康与福利部门紧密沟通，持续更新着大学网站上有关冠状病毒信息的网页。我们也将会在最快的时间内为即将入学的新生们提供指导与建议。

Dear Glasgow University Community,

Glasgow has along and deep connection with China, with our first Chinese student joining the University in 1886. With the ongoing situation about the Coronavirus, I would like to convey the University of Glasgow’s support and best wishes to our Chinese friends and family. Our thoughts are with everyone across the city of Wuhan. Hubei province, and of course China as a whole. This must be a very difficult time for you all.

And I can only imagine the concern that many of you will be feeling for your friends and families in China. In Glasgow, we have reached out to our staff and student community, to provide help and support where this is needed, along with guidance on health matters. We are closely following the developments of the outbreak and will continue to provide support in accordance with the latest recommendations from the British Government.

As of the moment, there have been 3 reported cases of Coronavirusin the UK and the risk on the University of Glasgow campus remains low. We’ve been keeping track with FCO and public health Scotland/England, aligned with our Student and Well-being Services within UofG, frequently updating our dedicated Coronavirus webpages and will provide advice for our prospective students as soon as we can.

It is important that we strike the right balance between precaution to prevent the spread of the virus and concern for the emotional well-being of our community. It is essential that the UofG family comes together to support our students, colleagues and partners during this stressful time. - “People Make Glasgow” is about coming together to face challenges as one community, something that we pride ourselves as a city.
