O2art is honored to announce that Ouyang Wendong's latest solo exhibition "Chant in the incense" will be open on April 2nd, 2022. The exhibition will last until May 15th, 2022. Welcome to make an appointment.
“因葺旧庐，疏渠引泉，周以花木，日哦其间”（陈继儒，《小窗幽记·集素篇》）。“香哦其间”对应于艺术家欧阳文东继今日美术馆之后的第一个画廊项目，现场将用集合香材料的作品与器具相间，营造出一个清寂的空间，“香”作为材料，也成为嗅觉的颜色，是可见于不可见的重要媒介。而陈“香”的雕塑作品也成为器具，工业管道般的造型是城市世界的微观缩影，当冰冷金属物的“内核”被点燃，缕缕轻烟缓缓升腾而出的那一刻，合香之气如梦境般展开，是人类“在场性”(Anwesenheit）的印证，也是短暂自由所带来的纯粹体验。这种超越视觉的感觉逻辑，吸引着欧阳文东将气味作为载体，不断探究去除身份后的内心体验。展览更像是艺术家与观者开放式的对话，只有置身于现场，将自身定义为“嗅觉主体”后才能“创造”存在，并构建出存在对于“主体”本身特有的意义。
'Therefore I rebuild the old house, surrounded by springs, flowers and trees, chant among them all the days' are lines written by the reclusive litterateur and painter Chen Jiru in Ming dynasty. Here, 'Chant in the incense' corresponds to artist Ouyang's first gallery project after his exhibition in Today Art Museum. In the exhibition space, Ouyang will create a secluded quiet place with artworks of blended incense. As a material, incense has also become the color of smells, an important medium that is intangible but sensible. The sculptures are serving as incense burners, with their shapes resemble to industrial pipes, like a microcosm of the urban world. When we light the 'core' - incense - inside the icy metals, there are wisps of smoke slowly rose out, then the scent unfolds itself like a dream. This is a testament to human presence (Anwesenheit), a pure experience of ephemeral freedom. It creates a spiritual sense beyond vision, which takes Ouyang to use scent as a carrier, to carry on exploring one's inner experience with the removal of self-identity. This exhibition is more like an open dialogue between the artist and the visitor. Only by being in the same space with the scent and defining ourselves as the subject of smell, can we make sense of our existence and then sense the significance of existence to ourselves.

欧阳文东，1967年出生于中国重庆，毕业于中国美术学院雕塑系及比利时安德卫普皇家美术学院高等视觉学院，曾学习于意大利卡拉拉美术学院石刻工作室，现为职业艺术家，生活工作于北京。
Ouyang Wendong was born in 1967 in Chongqing Provence, China. He graduated from China Academy of Art and the High Institute of Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp in Belgium, then studied in the Stone Studio at Carrara Academy of Fine Arts, Italy. He is now working as a professional artist in Beijing.

新氧艺O2art艺术空间长期经营与代理中生代当代职业艺术家及作品。艺术媒介包括绘画、雕塑、装置、摄影以及新媒体。2017年底在北京顺义中央别墅区开放新画廊空间，即现在的“新氧艺O2art艺术空间”。每年推出的展览项目以艺术家个展为主，呈现职业艺术家阶段性的研究成果，推动有具有开拓精神的职业艺术家，长期跟进艺术家的创作与事业发展，成为构建中国当代艺术生态的一员。O2art art space has long been operating and acting as the agent of contemporary professional artists and their works. The main artistic media include painting, sculpture, installation, photography and new media. The new gallery space opened in Beijing Shunyi central villa area at the end of 2017 is now "o2art art space". Each year, the art space presents the exhibition projects, mainly the artists' individual exhibitions, presenting the phased research results of artists. O2art has long promoted professional artists with pioneering spirit and followed up the creation and career development of artists, becoming a member of the construction of Chinese contemporary art ecology.
