Hong Kong's IPO market a hot topic at Guangzhou seminar
HKEX and the Bank of Communications joined hands for a special workshop focusing on Hong Kong's capital market on Wednesday, including how it functions and how it can support the growth plans of Mainland enterprises. The workshop was held in Guangzhou, one of China's tier one cities that has seen explosive economic growth over the past 30 years, in front of more than 200 clients of the Bank of Communications.
The training session was part of a series of seminars co-organised by the bank and HKEX to bring the bank's Mainland clients up to speed with the latest developments in the Hong Kong market, including cross-border financing options and even listing requirements and procedures in Hong Kong.
HKEX Chief China Economist Professor Ba Shusong kicked off the event by looking at the evolution of financial development in the Greater Bay Area and the opportunities stemming from financial diversification. He also put forward several financial innovation ideas for individual cities in the area.
IPOs were a hot topic, so HKEX representatives introduced the benefits of a Hong Kong listing with the clients, while representatives from the Bank of Communications explained Hong Kong's role as a syndicated loans centre in Asia.
The first two sessions in the series were held in Fuzhou, Fujian province in December 2018 and Wuhan, Hubei province in September this year.
