Kids at home because it's too hot? Here's an event to take them

Beijing's summers can be painful for the kids. There's just so much out there in the city to do, but it's just too hot out. Why is summer such a scorcher?

Fact #1 The city is located at the northern top of the region affected by the East Asian Monsoon and gives us a climate of extreme temperatures.

Fact #2 Beijing is in a basin with mountains forming a semi circles shield around the city, trapping hot air in.

Fact #3 We share the space with 22 million people. In Central Dongcheng, the population density is 23,000 humans per square kilometre. Add cars that generate heat and concrete that holds it in, sauna conditions are created.

The William Edgar Boutique Hotel’s outdoor pool will be more than just a cool body of water. Kids will be entertained with tunes from Japanese singer/pianist Matsushita and later in the evening, beats from House Rabbits founder DJ Leslie.  There will also be lots of activities near the water for the kids to get involved in. 

In terms of sustenance, entrance to the pool party also includes a buffet spread waterside and for the parents, ice-cold cocktails perfect for a balmy Saturday evening.
