Health-Client Relationship Specialist/

Executive-Open to Fresh Graduate


 Responsibilities 

  • Act as project delivery member or assistant in medium/small sized benefit related project, e.g. benefit survey, research, benchmarking/review, analysis and design, etc., to manage project timeline, deliverables, project quality, etc. Help to manage client relationship and communication on project basis.  Responsibilities 

  • Implement data processing upon raw data including cleaning, extraction, validation, basic coding, regression, visualizing and tabulation;

  • Operate at least 4-5 surveys concurrently and be held accountable for high data quality and on-schedule delivery of all reports undertaken;

At Mercer you will be a key part of the wider team of manager research specialists. This is an exciting opportunity to work for a global organization and to be part of the group responsible for recommending investment strategies that are used by Mercer’s clients globally.   • Prepare for and attend face to face meetings with investment management firms;

  • Compose research documents outlining the strengths and weaknesses of a strategy and making a recommendation based on research;

  • Supporting consultants in presenting to clients on the investment products researched and their prospects for medium to long-term performance, as well as the risks, and multi-manager portfolio design;

  • Contribute to ad hoc related research projects; and

  • Support client service, business development, and Mercer brand development in China.

 Requirements 

  • Educated to degree level and having strong quantitative and analytical analysis

  • Proven 7+ years’ experience in the institutional investment management or consulting industries

  • Strong background in investment analysis or portfolio management

  • Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail

  • Intellectually curious

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Fluent in English (written and verbal) and Mandarin

  • Part/ fully Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualified 


Wealth-Senior Investment Consultant/

Financial Intermediary Segment Leader

The Senior Investment Consultant/ Financial Intermediary Segment Leader will provide a full range of investment services to sophisticated clients in China, driving both sales and delivery with new and existing clients, particularly in complex investment situations.  


He or she has strong relationships in the financial intermediary segment in China and is able to develop these relationships into opportunities for Mercer’s investment offerings. Financial intermediaries may themselves serve either institutional and/or retail clients.


The individual will also assess whether Mercer FundWatch offers attractive business growth opportunities in China.


 Responsibilities 

New client business development/ Mercer brand development

  • Lead efforts to aggressively market and expand Mercer’s Investment services in China. Grow a book of retainer and project relationships through new business presentations, request for proposal (RFP) responses, and joint calling with other colleagues and cross-lines of other Mercer business groups;

  • Sales should include the breadth of Mercer’s investment capabilities but may include a particular focus on product offerings, such MercerInsight;

  • Review business proposals and provide guidance;

  • Conduct client and prospective client presentations;

  • Network with independent tender consultants for prospects;

  • Meet assigned goals for recurring client revenue and new business sales;

  • Maintain marketplace visibility through public speaking engagements, participating in professional societies and contribution to the development of intellectual capital such as publication or articles in appropriate trade journals;

  • Drive development and provide support for new initiatives, solutions, and offerings in the region, ensure appropriate execution and deployment in the region, leveraging best practices and resources across the Wealth business globally.


 Consulting responsibilities 

  • Provide investment consulting advice to a wide range of large institutional financial intermediary clients, including effective servicing across the continuum of investment and retirement services and solutions;

  • This may include the determination of investment objectives, establishment of investment policy, asset allocation/portfolio construction, selection of investment manager and the monitoring of investments;

  • Manage all aspects of consulting relationships for assigned clients;

  • Provide innovative mindsets of new products, services or ways to execute/deliver better;

  • Peer review reports, adding client specific information and ensuring client suitability;

  • Build relationships with global Mercer colleagues, particularly those with financial intermediary specializations.

Assess Mercer FundWatch (MFW) attractiveness in China

  • MFW (available in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan) delivers Mercer’s forward-looking qualitative manager research to individual investors and the financial advisors who serve them, paid for by managers who wish to be rated by Mercer in this segment;

  • The candidate should use his/her knowledge and research into the financial intermediary and broader investment market in China, as well as leveraging Mercer’s experience elsewhere in Asia, to assess the business case for MFW in China.  This assessment would include likely customers, competitors, opportunities, requirements (such as licenses, technology, etc.) and challenges;

  • The candidate will make a proposal to business stakeholders on the recommended route for MFW in China Depending on the outcome of this assessment and additional resource needs, the candidate may play a larger role in a future launch of this offering or additional resources may be considered as part of the business plan.

Project Management

  • Create client plans and monitor timelines and budgets;

  • Determine clients’ requirements and brief the team as appropriate, providing the direction and guidance required to ensure deadlines and service standards are met;

  • Ensure that specialist teams, e.g. Responsible Investment and Sentinel are involved in the provision of advice as and when appropriate.


 Requirements 〉

A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics or other business-related areas with strong quantitative and analytical course content. CFA/ CAIA/ MBA/ Masters degree preferred.


Broad and deep investment management and/or consulting expertise in all areas of investment, and a thorough understanding of the needs of large institutional financial intermediary investors and requirements from the regulator. At least 10-12 years’ total investment experience. 

  • Broad and deep expertise in selling and leading the delivery of investment services, and a thorough understanding of the needs of large institutional investors, especially financial intermediaries;

  • Ability to lead and manage major client relationships, and manage internal client teams to deliver most relevant service to clients;

  • Excellent relationship management, consulting writing and presentation skills;

  • Demonstrated track record in winning new business;

  • Contributes to intellectual capital / thought leadership in the region;

  • Highly motivated and results oriented;

  • Proven communication ability internally and externally with verbal, written and other media;

  • Proven ability to influence others in the absence of formal authority;

  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills;

  • Demonstrated ability to create high performance, results driven culture within teams and across businesses/countries;

  • Desirably CFA, CAIA, and/or other relevant qualifications.
