亲爱的同学们：

“海嘉”源于“海纳百川，嘉言懿行”的美好愿望。今天想跟大家谈谈嘉言的力量。 苏格拉底说：“语言不只是简单地为我写作和思考，它还逐渐宰制了我的感觉，我整个人的精神存在，使我毫无置疑毫不自觉地把自己放弃给它。”是的，语言的力量比你想象的强大。

自新型冠状病毒爆发以后，许多国家和地区纷纷向武汉伸出援手。就在1月底，日本青少年育成协会给湖北省捐赠的一批口罩和温度计，包装的箱子上写着的一句诗，引起了不小的轰动。

“山川异域，风月同天”

大家读之，怦然心动吗？据说7世纪日本长屋亲王赠送给大唐高僧的1000件袈裟上，就写了这些汉字：曰：“山川异域，风月同天，寄诸佛子，共结来缘。”这句话打动了高僧鉴真，在他下决定东渡日本时，也说了同样的四句诗：“山川异域，风月同天，寄诸佛子，共结来缘。”后来，鉴真和尚历时12年，6次东渡日本，5次失败，以至于双目失明。最后一次，终于到达日本，受到了盛大的欢迎。此后，弘法日本，传播大唐文化，被日本人民尊为“天平之甍”，（即代表着天平时代文化的最高成就）。有了这样的故事，当它穿越1300年的悠绵岁月到今天，以这样的方式呈现时，让人感到它承载的情谊分外深厚。“山川”、“风月”、“天”、“地”共同营造了心寄于明月、情寄于山川的大格局、大气象，立意高远、意境开阔。在清明澄澈的天地宇宙下，超越时间和空间的温情传递，直入人心。不久，外交部发言人、新闻司副司长耿爽在外交部2月21日网上例行记者会上表示：“当前日本国内疫情也牵动中国人民的心，我们感同身受。‘投我以木桃，报之以琼瑶’。尽管当前中国国内疫情形势依然严峻，但我们愿在努力抗击本国疫情的同时……根据日方需要，继续向日方提供力所能及的支持和帮助。”《诗经》的一句“投我以木桃，报之以琼瑶”是对“山川异域，风月同天”的最好的回应。这就是嘉言的力量。

 “山川异域，风月同天”,在疫情时代，开风气之先，掀起了“风雅传情”的高潮。同学们，让我们饱含深情地读一读吧：

 “岂曰无衣，与子同裳。” 

《诗经》之《秦风·无衣》

“青山一道同云雨，明月何曾是两乡。” 

唐  王昌龄《送柴侍御》

“辽河雪融，富山花开；同气连枝，共盼春来。”

 “四海皆兄弟，珍重待春风！”

读到“岂曰无衣，与子同裳”时，你是否仿佛听到了远古时期战士们排山倒海的“与子同袍！”“与子同泽！”“与子同裳！” 的声声同心协力、壮烈慷慨的呐喊声。读到中国女排主教练郎平赠送给武汉的呼吸机的大纸箱上的“四海皆兄弟，珍重待春风！”的两句诗时，是否感到了诗情背后滚烫的温度呢？这就是嘉言的力量。

古人有云：“赠人一言，贵于珠玉；伤人之言，重于剑戟。”语言的力量是一把双刃剑。德籍犹裔学者维克多·克伦贝勒（Victor Klemperer）在《第三帝国的语言》里提出了一个相当经典的问题：“什么是希特勒最有力的宣传工具？靠的是一些单词、词组和语句的结构，靠着广泛、机械而又不自觉地重复使用它们达到百万次以上。”是的，有些语言能让你热血沸腾，让你心驰神往，但它犹如看不见底的深洞，始终无法让你看到正义的光芒。

鲁迅在《汉文学史纲》中说，文学作品的语言分为“三类”：“意美以感心，一也；音美以感耳，二也；形美以感目，三也。”同学们，嘉言兼具三美。其中，意美是三美的基础，没有意美，音美和形美会显得华而不实，空洞丑陋。亲爱的同学们：《海嘉赋》：“青青子衿，悠悠我心，海纳百川，嘉言懿行。”就是嘉言的体现。

亲爱的同学们，“一言九鼎重如泰山”。希望同学们可以用“学融东西之大，心法古今之美”来开拓自己的思想。用善意的语言对待你的同学、老师和父母，用真诚的话语打动你的听众，成为“嘉言”的践行者。诚如学校使命所寄语你们的一样，“在变幻的世界中，成为推动多元文化间互相理解、尊重及共融的双语使者 ！”

Dear Students,

"BIBA" originates from the beautiful wish of " Treasuring and valuing different ideas and cultures, we cultivate in them aspirations for good words and good deeds.". Today I want to talk about the power of good words. Good words is first and foremost beong to the categolory of language. Socrates said: "Language is not just about writing and thinking for myself. It also gradually dominates my feelings. My entire spiritual existence makes me give up to it without any doubt. Yes, the power of language is stronger than you could think about.

Since the outbreak of the new coronavirus, many countries and regions have extended their help hand to Wuhan. At the end of January, a poem written on a batch of masks and thermometer  boxes donated by the Japan Youth Development Association to Hubei Province caused a lot of sensation.

"The mountains and rivers are apart by the ocean, wind and moon are shared under the same sky."

Feel moved after reading this sentence? It is said that in the 7th century, the Prince of Japan's Longhouse presented 1,000 cassocks kæsək to Da Tang monks. "The mountains and rivers are apart, wind and moon are shared" are those Chinese characters written on the cassocks.These words moved the Tang Dynasty monk Jianzhen. When he decided to go to Japan, he also said the same lines of poem: " The mountains and rivers are apart by the ocean, wind and moon are shared under the same sky ". Later, for 12 years the monk Jianzhen tried go to Japan 6 times in which 5 times are failed. He was even blind for the second last time. The last time, he finally arrived in Japan and received a grand welcome.Then he stayed at Japan until his death. He spread buddism and Chinese Tang culture to Japan, and was honored by the Japanese people as "The Ridge of the era of Balance " (that is, the highest achievement of the culture of the era of balance). With such a story, when it travels through 1300 years to this day and presents it in this way, it makes people feel that the friendship it carries is extremely deep.

"Mountains", "Wind and Moon", "Sky", and "land" jointly create a great vision and with hearts entrusting the bright moon and feelings entrusting mountains and rivers. It is high and far in purpose,broad in realm. In the clear and bright universe between land and sky, the tenderness and kindness transcend the time and space to people's hearts.

Soon, Geng Shuang, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and deputy director of the News Department, said at a regular online press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 21: "The current domestic epidemic also affects the hearts of the Chinese people, and we feel the same. " You throw a peach to me, I give you a white jade for friendship." Although the current domestic epidemic situation in China is still severe, we are willing to continue to provide support and assistance to the Japanese side within our ability while working hard to combat the epidemic situation in our country. "A sentence from the Book of Songs " You throw a peach to me, I give you a white jade for friendship " is the best response to " The mountains and rivers are apart by the ocean, wind and moon are shared under the same sky". This is the power of good words.

" The mountains and rivers are apart by the ocean, wind and moon are shared under the same sky”, it sets off a climax of "Pass on empathy by using elegant words ". Students, let’s read it with affection:

"Fear not the want of armor , for mine is also yours to wear."   Books of Song

"Though separated by a mountain, we’ll share the same clouds and rain. The bright moon belongs not to a single town"

"Liao River thaws ,while flowers bloom in Toyama. Of the same breath and from joint branches, we hope together for the spring to come soon”;

"We are brothers from all corners of the world ,  Take care, wait for the spring breeze to come!"

When you read the lines of  " Fear not the want of armor, for mine is also yours to wear.", Did you seem to hear the ancient soldiers clamoring for mine is also yours to wear!" " for mine is also yours to drink!" "" for mine is also yours to wear! " A strong, generous shout of solidarity. Did you feel the hot temperature behind the poem on the big carton of the ventilator equipped to Wuhan by the Head Coach of the Chinese women ’s Volleyball team? This is also the power of good words.

The ancients said: "Giving someone a word is more expensive than pearl jade; hurting people by words is more heavier than sword halberds. hælbɜːd" The power of language is a double-edged sword. German-Jewish scholar Victor Klemperer   asked a rather classic question in "The Language of the Third Reich  raɪk ": "What is Hitler's most powerful propaganda tool? It depends on words and phrases, relies on them extensively, mechanically, and unconsciously to reuse them more than a million times. " Yes, some languages can make you enthusiastic and fascinated, but it is like a deep hole in black, which can never let you see the light of justice.

Lu Xun said in the Outline of the History of Chinese Literature that the language of literary works is divided into "three categories": "the beauty of meaning is to touch the heart. This is first; the beauty of sound is to touch the ears. This is the second; the beauty of shape is to touch the eyes. This is the third. " Dear students, good words have all three beauties. The beauty of meaning is the foundation. Without the beauty of meaning, the beauty of sound and the beauty of shape will appear flashy and ugly. Dear students, do you know? "The Ode to BIBA": " Moved by the innocence of children, we serve them with our best. Treasuring and valuing different ideas and cultures, we cultivate in them aspirations for good words and good deeds." These lines are manifestation of good words itself.

Dear students, "Word is as heavy as Mount Tai." I hope that you can use the way of "Learn to blend the greatness of Easten and Westen, cultivated  by the beauty of ancient and modern minds" to broad your thoughts. Treat your classmates, teachers, and parents with kind words, impress your listeners with sincere words, and become practitioners of good words. Dear students, let’s act along the school mission stated and wished that, " In our rapdily changing world, we are gong to be the model for developing internationally-minded bilingual ambassadors, who promote inter-cultural understanding, respect and integration in a dynamic global community!"
