WELCOME BACK!
It's great to see you again, dear students, at this moment!
In the morning sunshine, you see our familiar-looking teachers all waiting at the school gate. Dr. Pang is holding the Welcome-back sign with his signature smiles. Math teacher Naysan is playing guitar with delightful melodies. Hand by hand, every student received a Long-waited welcome-back letter and bright heart-warming sunflowers from the teachers.
Back to BIBA, everyone rejoices and is exhilarated.
This excitement is evident as students are welcomed back and everything is getting back on track. However, this does not mean that we can relax our vigilance.
At this unusual time, how can the health and safety of students be ensured while they stay on campus? What measures will the school take to prevent and control the epidemic? How will the school respond should an emergency happen? Parents definitely have these concerns.
After over three months of dedicated preparation, let us follow the camera together on a return to BIBA tour.
Entering School
Teachers and students are required to verify their identities and check their body temperature when they enter the school. Anyone with a fever is prohibited entry. A one-meter line and a temporary observation spot have been set up near the school gate to regulate the waiting queue for inspections. Should any teacher or student show an abnormal body temperature, they will be taken to the temporary observation spot to have their temperature monitored and then taken to the fever clinic to follow the prescribed procedure. Should such a situation occurs to a student, their parents will be contacted promptly. A routine self-check will be also be carried out twice a day, in the morning and afternoon respectively for students in a class unit, teachers in a grade unit, and other staff in department units. All the relevant information is updated to the School Inspection Report System of the Municipal Disease Control Center, compiling with health data. While preventing COVID-19, it is important to proactively prevent and cure other infectious diseases in the Spring season.
In School
Faculty, staff and students are required to wear masks on campus. Hands washing hygiene measures are to be strictly implemented. Washing hands before meals, before and after using the toilet, after touching garbage, coming from outside, using sports equipment, school computers and other public items, before touching "susceptible" parts such as eyes, and after touching contaminated items. Hands should be washed with liquid or solid soap thoroughly under running water in the correct method. You can also use disinfectant to rub your hands.
Disinfection
During the epidemic, the school will conduct a combination of on-site and online teaching with one-meter distancing between each student to ensure that the per capita spacing in the classroom meets the regulations. The school will arrange for relatively close classrooms to be used on a staggered timetable. In PE classes, concentrated and contact sports will be avoided and the outside sports grounds will be made full use of to increase the interval space among users.
Chlorine-containing disinfectants are to be sprayed and wiped in areas including desktops, floors, aisles, door handles, elevators, etc. before work, and offices to be aired for 30 minutes after disinfection. Office landline telephones will be wiped and disinfected twice a day with a 75% ethanol solution. The office area is equipped with hand washing facilities and disinfection supplies.
School Lunch Arrangement
Extended dining time will apply when the school resumes. Teachers and students should keep a certain distance from others and wear masks when queuing up for food. By following the principles of dining in staggered time slots and facing one-direction, diners are asked to avoid flocking around tables, dining face to face or engaging in long conversations. Meals will be distributed in disposable boxes. Non-one-time use catering utensils will be thoroughly disinfected to ensure effective disinfection for each use of every single utensil by each person every time. The canteen will be kept clean and tidy, floors and the surfaces of tables, door handles, faucets and other objects will be regularly disinfected and worksheets logged. Tableware (utensils) must be sterilized at a high temperature in accordance with "Sanitary Standards for Disinfecting Tableware (utensils)". Use clean and sterilized portioning utensils when eating. The canteen will strictly observe procurement procedures for verification of supplier’s license and acquisition of invoices. Poultry and livestock from unknown sources will not be admitted. Procurement of edible wild animals is strictly prohibited. Health checks will be conducted for the canteen employees beforehand, and compulsory training on the safe operation within the canteen will be provided. Staff can only start working in the canteen after passing a medical check and training. All staff must wear masks and caps throughout the working period.
Training and Drills
All faculty, staff, students and parents will be provided with epidemic prevention and control training and the knowledge and skills of personal protection and disinfection. The school is well equipped with an emergency plan for epidemic prevention and control, and emergency response drills have been conducted focusing on checking body temperatures, handling fever symptoms and improving campus safety and security. The School works closely with the Education Commission, Health and Disease Control Centre to coordinate and arrange health workers, school doctors and nurses to be fully trained to run the full function of school clinic.
The Emergency Response Plan
Teachers and students with suspicious symptoms such as fevers, coughs, sore throats, fatigue, diarrhea and abdominal pain will be immediately isolated from the public if diagnosed at school. Students’ parents will be notified as soon as possible and relevant medical treatment will be arranged at the nearest medical and health centers to ensure timely detection, rapid handling, precise control and effective treatment. Teachers, students, staff, families and people who are in close contact with the above symptoms should be reported to the school in a timely manner and stay in isolation at home. Once a suspected or confirmed case appears on campus, the emergency plan will to be immediately initiate in-line with the rules set by the Education Commission, Health and Disease Control Center. Class suspension, school suspension and even school closure measures will be taken to ensure the health and safety of teachers and students.
Over the last three months, BIBA has been making substantial preparations for epidemic prevention and control, waiting for the students to return.
During this extraordinary spring, we have learnt a great deal. In awe, we cherish;Out of sublimated sorrow, we promise to restart.
Returning to BIBA campus, our dream continue to sail again! We are still children of wind chasers. In rivers and lakes, in the sun, moon and stars, we sail freely!
