【Storyland

Storyland Storyland

· Story Writing

· Dragon Tales

· Young Philosopher Club

· World Building

World Building

This class will help students improve their ability to plan creative stories, giving them a story planning technique that takes them from a blank page to solidly structured prose writing.

World building is a technique for story writing used by authors to produce incredible science fiction and fantasy novels. It allows authors to create immersive settings and characters with great depth and complex yet logical problems to overcome.

Beginning with an empty universe, students start with the largest building blocks, creating new planets and solar systems. Setting those conditions, they imagine what societies and cultures would naturally evolve there.

Positioning their characters within these fascinating and dynamic settings allows for creative story telling where students can create simple metaphors and allegories that entice readers to compare and contrast with our own world and societies, creating fantasy stories with critical relevance and depth.

Above all, world building is a fun and creative exercise that brings out the best in each student’s creativity.
