Lloris promptly spat it out before it made serious inroads, but - as ever - the incredible footage didn't escape the Twittersphere, who were quick to make jokes.
○ promptly: “迅速地,立即地;依照预定时间地”(quickly, without delay, or at the arranged time) 类似于 quickly
举个🌰 We try to answer readers' letters as promptly (= quickly) as we can.
○ spat: 是 spit 的过去式和过去分词形式,表示“唾,吐(尤指唾液)”(to force out the contents of the mouth, especially saliva),也可以“怒斥,厉声说出”(to say or shout words quickly and angrily)
○ make inroads/an inroad: to start to have a direct and noticeable effect (on something)
举个🌰 The government is definitely making inroads into the problem of unemployment.
○ Twittersphere: 表示“推特用户” (users of Twitter, considered collectively.)
Within literally seconds, Twitter accounts were created in the dragonfly's name.

While most poked fun at Lloris for his misfortune, one suggested it means the French stopper is in for one heck of a game.
○ poke fun at sb:“取笑(某人),奚落(某人)”(to make someone seem stupid by making jokes about them or laughing unkindly),poke 更常见的一个意思是“戳,刺,捅”(to push a finger or other pointed object quickly into someone or something)
举个🌰 You'll poke someone in the eye with that umbrella if you're not careful!
○ stopper 原意是“瓶塞”(a plug for sealing a hole, especially in the neck of a bottle or other container),这里 the French stopper 引申为表示法国队守门员/门将洛里斯,「-stopper」作为后缀可以表示“使…停止的”(something that stops the thing mentioned)
○ The French stopper is in for one heck of a game
「be in for」表示“即将遭遇…”(to be going to experience something unpleasant very soon)
举个🌰 The weather forecast says we're in for heavy rain this evening.
而「a/one heck of a sth/sb」表示“令人惊讶的好人(或好事)”(a surprisingly good person or thing),
举个🌰 She's one heck of a writer. one heck of a game
另外,「a heck of a sth/sb」也可以用于强调“非常”…,替换 very,
举个🌰 It's a heck of a long way to the nearest shop from here.
The social media user claimed: "I was watching this camera shot of a dragonfly landing on the mouth of French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. There's a folklore about dragonflies. When they appear around you - you have protection from someone in heaven."
○ folklore 意思是“民间传说;民俗”(the traditional stories and culture of a group of people)
