gross
gross作为形容词，除了表示〔扣除税或成本之前〕“总的，毛的”，如：
Gross Domestic Product, GDP 国内生产总值，gross profit 毛利，
此处表示“严重的，过分的，恶劣的，令人讨厌的，令人厌恶的”，only before noun仅用于名词，英文解释为“clearly wrong and unacceptable”，如：

同义词是“malicious”，表示“狠毒的，恶毒的，恶意的”，英文解释为：very unkind in a way that is intended to hurt someone’s feelings or make their character seem bad.

provoke意思是“激怒，挑衅，使恼火”，英文解释为：to make someone angry, especially deliberately.

To think that +从句 表示惊讶、意外的情绪，“竟然，真没想到”，从句有时用虚拟语气，且that可省略。
