Ni Hao! Bojo Uses Mandarin Greeting to Goad Party Leader
BREITBART
Prime Minister Boris Johnson might be under pressure from some members of his own Conservative party and those on the opposition benches to consider his political future, but that doesn’t mean he has lost his will to fight.
Far from it.
On Wednesday he stood in the House of Commons and fielded questions about his performance handling the coronavirus epidemic and his own conduct in attending staff parties during the national coronavirus lockdown.
The leader of the Liberal Democrats Ed Davey used the basis of a question on the virus to attack Johnson before goading him to resign.
Ed Davey said: “Yesterday the Prime Minister had to accept that he was unaware of what his own Covid rules actually allowed.
“With millions of British people now seeing that the Prime Minister can’t even grasp what his own basic rules are, he’s no longer a credible person to set the rules for others during this public health crisis.
“Isn’t it time he accepted the House and the country can no longer trust him with the nation’s health, and the best policy to beat Covid now would be for him to resign?”
Boris Johnson responded “ni hao as we say to the right honourable gentleman”, before going on to say: “I don’t agree with him. I want to go on and deliver on the people’s priorities.
“This Government was elected with an enormous mandate to unite and level up across our country, and that is what we’re going to do.”
Johnson shot back a response and fond greeting to his accuser in Mandarin.
Clearly Boris Johnson hopes the Mandarin response will jog Ed Davey’s memory.
Former cabinet minister David Davis has also accused Boris Johnson of trying to “escape responsibility” over the Downing Street drinks party.
Boris Johnson's press secretary has said he will fight any no-confidence vote and that he is still the best person for the job.
She said: “Our focus is very clear in terms of delivering the ambitious agenda that we have set out, that we were elected on in 2019, and we want to continue to work together as Conservatives to deliver this.”
