Join Our Upcoming Member Delegation to Hangzhou

The China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) invites members to join a two-day programme exploring opportunities in Zhejiang’s digital economy in Hangzhou between 27th-28th October, 2020.

The programme has been developed by CBBC together with China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Zhejiang Committee (Zhejiang CCPIT), and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Hangzhou Committee (Hangzhou CCPIT) for CBBC member companies.

Tom Simpson, CBBC China’s Managing Director, will lead the group to attend an offline conference with CCPIT, local government officials and local enterprises to understand the latest development strategy for Zhejiang, in particular the digital economy and the expanded Free Trade Zone, in order to explore potential commercial opportunities to UK businesses.  In addition, CBBC members will have chance to visit and engage with local leading companies, Telecom Carrier, Economic and Technology Development Zone(s) which are based in Hangzhou.

Zhejiang, a Digital Economy Powerhouse in East China

Sitting at the forefront of China’s digital economy, Zhejiang has prioritised the development of the digital economy as its “No.1 Project” which will focus on digital industrialisation, industrial digitisation and governance digitisation.

Home to Alibaba and a number of leading high-tech companies, Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang is striving to become the leading city in China’s digital economy. Driven by digital economy, Hangzhou has formed advantages in software, E-commerce, cloud computing and big data, and digital content. A number of research platforms like Zhejiang Lab, WestLake University and Alibaba DAMO Academy are also established in Hangzhou.

Following the China’s State Council’s announcement on 21st September, the Free Trade Zone in Zhejiang will be expanded to Hangzhou, which will further promote Hangzhou to develop a digitalized Free Trade Zone in new-generation artificial intelligence, fintech, e-commerce, and digital economy.

How to Participate

The visit is open to all CBBC members. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis due to limited capacity. Participants are encouraged to take part in the whole programme. Please note that CBBC will NOT cover costs of travelling, food and accommodation during the visits.

Travel Tips

Participants are suggested to arrive in Hangzhou on 26th October and plan a return trip from the last meeting with Tuya Smart (Address: 7-12/F, Block A Huace Centre, Jiangdun Road, Hangzhou, Xihu District, Hangzhou 杭州市西湖区蒋墩路华策中心A座) which is supposed to end by 16:00pm on 28th October.
