Can you imagine what it is like to drive at the height of 200 floors?

It feels like stepping over the mountains, piercing through the sea of clouds and flying up to the sky.
仿佛踏过了群山,穿破了云海,直通天际。
At the junction of Guizhou and Yunnan stands the U-shaped bottomless Beipan River Grand Canyon, where Beipanjiang Bridge spans the Beipan River at a height of 565.4 meters above the water.
黔滇两省交界处,深不见底的北盘江“U”形大峡谷上,一座大桥矗立其间,名为北盘江第一桥。
Guizhou is known as “A Museum of World’s Bridges”. In this museum, the Beipanjiang Bridge is undoubtedly the most precious treasure.
贵州被誉为“世界桥梁博物馆”,而北盘江大桥无疑就是这座博物馆当之无愧的“门面”。
As an important project of the Hangzhou - Ruili Expressway (National Expressway G56), the Beipanjiang Bridge has a total length of 1,341.4 meters and the largest span of 720 meters. It is connected to Duge Town, Shuicheng District of Guizhou Province in the east and Lalong Village, Xuanwei City of Yunnan Province in the west. The vertical distance between the bridge deck and the river surface is 565.4 meters. When it was under construction, it was crowned as the world’s highest bridge and the steel-truss cable-stayed bridge with the world's largest span.
作为杭瑞高速公路(国家高速G56)的咽喉工程,北盘江大桥全长1341.4米、最大跨径720米,东与贵州省水城区都格镇相连、西与云南省曲靖市宣威市普立乡腊龙村相交,桥面至江面垂直距离为565.4米,在建时为世界最大跨径钢桁梁斜拉桥、世界第一高桥。
So how hard was it to build a bridge like this?
而建造这样一座超级高桥,到底有多难?
Unprecedentedly, the construction team applied the 500E high-quality anti-seismic steel bars, and several advanced technologies such as incremental launch and main girder plate-truss composite structure to the construction of the bridge. Both small and large cranes were used for installation within 0.5 millimeters of precision which is equivalent to 1/4 of the thickness of a coin. The entire bridge has used more than ten thousand steel components which weight nearly thirty thousand tons.
建设团队创新使用了主梁纵移悬拼技术、顶推施工,全面应用了主梁板桁结合技术、500E高性能抗震钢筋。采取大小吊车协同施工的方法精准安装,将高差控制在0.5毫米内,相当于一枚硬币厚度的1/4。整座大桥使用了上万个钢构件、总重量近3万吨,共设112对224根斜拉索。
The precision, speed and quality of China surprised the world again. In June, 2018, the Beipanjiang Bridge received the Gustav Lindenthal Medal, the highest award of the 35th International Bridge Conference which is known as the “Nobel Prize” in the bridge industry, and became a masterpiece of this era.
中国精度、中国速度、中国质量再次惊艳世界。2018年6月,北盘江大桥荣获有国际桥梁界“诺贝尔奖”之称的第35届国际桥梁大会最高奖——古斯塔夫斯金奖,成为时代的标高。
This is a bridge of chances and happiness. Since the completion of the Beipanjiang Bridge, the four-hour drive from Xuanwei, Yunnan to Liupanshui, Guizhou has been shortened to one hour. It marks the connection of the last break point of the "Five Vertical Expressways and Seven Horizontal Expressways" expressway network of China, and the rapid integration of the junction of Guizhou, Yunnan and Sichuan in the national expressway network. It also serves as a fast access of export and tourism of Guizhou, making itself the most unique and iconic cultural symbol of Guizhou.
这是一座门户之桥,更是一座幸福之桥。大桥建成后,云南宣威至贵州水城车程从5个小时缩短为1小时,标志着国家“五纵七横”高速路网最后一个断点打通,川滇黔三省交界区域快速融入全国高速公路网。打通了“黔货出山”和来黔旅游的快速通道,让北盘江大桥成为贵州一道亮丽风景和最具自信的独特文化符号之一。
From zip lines, iron-chain bridges, highway bridges to the 8 world-class bridges flying over the Beipan River, as time passed by, these bridges helped the Beipan River regions end predicaments that had lasted for thousands of years. They carry the spirit of the locals who refuse to accept their fate, and witness the great changes in the transportation of Guizhou. Since the existence of humans, many miracles in the world have been created.
从溜索、铁索桥、公路桥,到如今8座世界级高桥飞渡北盘江……古往今来,一座座桥梁打破了北盘江流域千年发展困局,镌刻着贵州人不认命、不服输的精神,见证着贵州交通巨变。自从有了人,什么奇迹都能创造出来。
