Port officials say 58 cruise ships are coming this season, down slightly from last year because a couple of ships were redeployed elsewhere.

There are a number of improvements to the seaport this year, including more vendor space and an expansion of the cafe. The visitor information centre has been moved from Founders Hall to the old Stonehouse on Water Street.

Disney Cruise Line plans a seven-night Atlantic Canada cruise from New York in 2017 that will be its longest into that cruise region.

The Disney Magic cruise departs Oct. 21 and includes a new port of call for Disney — Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

Disney will also cruise to the Bahamas six times from New York in the fall of 2017.

Elsewhere, the Disney Wonder will return to San Diego in September and October for sailings to Baja California and the Mexican Riviera. The ship will then move on to Galveston for the winter.
