The employee of the British Consulate General in Hong Kong has been detained for 15 days for solicitation of prostitution, Shenzhen police confirmed with the Global Times on Thursday.
Police in Luohu district said Simon Cheng Man-kit, 28, has violated the 66th article of China's law on administrative penalties for public security, which stipulates that people who engage in prostitution or visiting prostitutes shall be detained for no less than 10 days but no more than 15 days. They may also be fined for 5,000 yuan ($705).
环球时报记者星期四从深圳罗湖警方了解到英国驻香港总领馆一香港籍雇员在内地受行政拘留处罚的更多信息。罗湖警方透露，8月9日，香港居民郑某杰（男，28岁，英文名：Simon Cheng）因违反《中华人民共和国治安管理处罚法》第六十六条之规定，被罗湖警方处以行政拘留15日的处罚。

If the circumstances are relatively minor, the person shall be detained for a maximum of five days or fined a maximum of 500 yuan. Whoever solicits prostitutes in a public place shall be detained for a maximum of five days or fined a maximum of 500 yuan.
《中华人民共和国治安管理处罚法》第六十六条涉及的是卖淫嫖娼。该条规定，卖淫、嫖娼的，处十日以上十五日以下拘留，可以并处五千元以下罚款;情节较轻的，处五日以下拘留或者五百元以下罚款。在公共场所拉客招嫖的，处五日以下拘留或者五百元以下罚款。
警方星期三公布的消息说，该香港居民被处以行政拘留15日的处罚。

The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed Wednesday that an employee of the British Consulate General in Hong Kong was detained and is being held by Shenzhen police.
中国外交部周三证实，英国驻香港总领事馆的一名员工已被拘留，目前正被深圳警方扣留。
The employee was given 15 days' administrative detention by Shenzhen police for violating China's regulation on public security management, Geng Shuang, a spokesperson of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a routine press conference on Wednesday.
外交部发言人耿爽在周三的例行新闻发布会上表示，该员工因违反中国的治安管理规定，被深圳警方行政拘留15天。
针对有质疑指，郑某杰拘留后为什么警方没有通报其家属等问题，罗湖警方回应说，案发后，郑某杰本人提出请求，根据他的请求，警方依法对其违法行为未予通报其家属。
