致境外教师和学生的一封信

各位老师，同志们，同学们，大家好！

“反复相思字，中有故人心。” 随着新冠肺炎疫情在全球快速蔓延，我们对大家的近况格外牵挂。

这几天，关于你们的每一条消息都会第一时间摆上我们的案头，我们为疫情发展态势感到担忧，也为你们报来的平安感到欣慰。纵然分隔万里，但我们的心跳却在同频共振。

希望你们保持良好心态，理性应对疫情。在你们身后，不仅有学校遥寄的祝福，更有中国撑起的坚强后盾。在党中央的正确领导下，国内疫情防控已取得阶段性胜利。

尽管受疫情影响，在管理上，学校积极利用网上办公等手段，确保各项工作进展有序。在教学上，做到“停课不停教”、“停课不停学”，我校全体教师克服困难、顺势而为，开设在线课程和在线教学。在学校各部门各单位通力合作下，学校一切安好，至今保持“零感染”的防控成绩，我校的疫情防控工作已取得阶段性成果，这些也离不开你们的共同努力。

希望你们加强自我保护，保持信息畅通，及时报告个人情况，密切关注当地疫情发展态势，积极配合当地疫情防控要求，未经批准，暂勿回国，遇到困难可随时与学校联系。

新冠肺炎病毒是全人类共同的敌人。我们坚信，中国的疫情防控经验将得到越来越多国家的重视和认可，在世界各国和衷共济、协同作战下，新冠肺炎病毒终将被人类打败。

无论身处何地，学校永远是你们心灵的港湾。让我们团结一心，守望相助，待世界战“疫”形势扭转之际，我们在地大校园相聚可期！

A Letter to CUGBers outside China

Dear China University of Geosciences (Beijing) faculty and students who are currently outside China, 

Chinese poet Wei Yingwu of the Tang dynasty says in one of his poems that, “For the care about you in my heart, thus my repeated reading of our letters” (“反复相思字，中有故人心” in Chinese) , which, at this very moment, when the COVID-19 outbreak is spreading worldwide, vividly depicts our concern about your health and well-being. 

In recent days, the messages received from you has been promptly delivered to us. While we are worried about the situation with the outbreak, we also feel such a relief to hear that you are safe and sound. Although you are thousands of miles away, our hearts are with you.   

We hope all of you to take good care of yourselves and keep calm and reassured. Please keep in mind that not only you have CUGB at your back to support you, but also China as your strong backbone. With the strong leadership of the Central Government, the domestic prevention and control of the outbreak has achieved periodic progress. 

Despite the disruption and inconveniences brought by the virus outbreak, our school has actively utilized multiple measures to handle current crisis. In terms of campus management and administrative work, we have adopted means such as on-line office to make sure relevant works be carried out smoothly. In terms of academic arrangements, our faculty members have overcame difficulties and launched on-line courses, they also opened on-line teaching for students so that the postpone of the new semester will not interrupt the teaching and learning arrangements. With combined endeavor of all departments, our school has handled the crisis well and maintained zero infection. The phased success also cannot be achieved without your joint effort. 

We hope you to take all necessary steps to enhance personal protection and keep in contact with school staff to report personal situation. Please also pay close attention to the outbreak development in your local areas and cooperate with local prevention and control requirements. Please stay where you are and do not come back to China without permission. If you encounter any problems and need help, please do not hesitate to contact school staff. 

The world is on the same boat to fight against the COVID-19 outbreak. The Chinese experience in preventing and controlling the virus has been acknowledged and respected by more and more countries. We are convinced that with the concerted effort of the world, we will prevail over this outbreak. 

No matter if you are near or afar, CUGB will always your home at heart. Let us work together, combining our various efforts to contribute toward the prevention and control of this pandemic. We await the day when the outbreak is under control and we are looking forward to seeing everyone again on campus!
