The Jing Educator Awards 2023 honors those who have made outstanding contributions in the noble field of molding the next generation. Before the formal awards presentation ceremony at the 2023 Jingkids International School Expo (JISE) on March 11 and 12, let's meet the nominees from the various schools and get to know them a little better.

Beijing International Bilingual Academy

Adam Kauk

Adam Kauk is a technology teacher who has been living in China for nine years, during which time he has also taught math and science. Before living in China, he worked in technology companies in California, and moved to China to try something different. He currently teaches ICT, Computer Science, and design. In his teaching, he tries to cultivate a love of technology, let students learn the fundamental technical details, and help students understand the potential but also the risks of technology. He loves teaching because it has a variety of different aspects and also gives him new challenges every year.

Carmela Angeles

Ms. Angeles has been at BIBA for five years and had excelled in all her years teaching Art from Kindergarten through 11th Grade. Ms. Angeles makes connections with everyone that she has contact with. Students, parents, and colleagues alike all praise her for her great attitude, always working with a smile on her face.

This year, Ms. Angeles has re-written and aligned the Art curriculum from KG – 5th grade, creating a vertical program so that the students can appreciate art each year. Throughout her time at BIBA she has inspired many children to fall in love with art.

Over the past couple of years, Ms. Angeles has supported the BIBA students by being organizing the Art Committee and setting up the Art Expo which is held once a year. Through her vision and passion, the expo became one of the most exciting events on campus, displaying many of the student’s artwork.

Ms. Angeles has earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of St. Tomas in the Philippines, in addition to her Teaching Certificate from Assumption College Graduate School. To further her studies, she earned a Professional Certificate in Special Education, modeling that it is important to be lifetime learners.

Ms. Angeles has helped to make positive changes at BIBA, not only in the curriculum that she has developed but in each student’s life to develop a passion for art.

Steve Wang

Steve Wang is an avid sporty teacher who has worked at BIBA for five years and is the head of Boarding House. In the eyes of his students, he is more than a teacher. He has a close relationship with his students and talks about everything. With his support, the children fell in love with tennis, diving, mountaineering, and martial arts.

In his opinion, children need to grow up in nature, which is not only mother nature, but also the rhythm of life. Physical and mental health is not only a slogan, but should also be an everyday concern, all the time. He is also a member of the Committee of Beijing Wushu Sports Association and the director of the Professional Committee of Mianzhang. Under his leadership, many BIBA students fall in love with martial arts and learn more about Chinese culture through it.
