The Jing Educator Awards 2023 honors those who have made outstanding contributions in the noble field of molding the next generation. Before the formal awards presentation ceremony at the 2023 Jingkids International School Expo (JISE) on March 11 and 12, let's meet the nominees from the various schools and get to know them a little better.

Rachel Ward,
YueCheng Courtyard Kindergarten Teacher
Rachel is from North Wales in the United Kingdom and holds a BA (Hons) degree in early childhood studies from Bangor University Wales. She spent nine years teaching children in the early years in Spain. She later moved to China to work at a leading international school in Shanghai. After 13 years of working in the field of international education, from England to Spain, from Shanghai to Beijing, Rachel still has her passion and love for the early childhood education industry.
After joining YueCheng Courtyard Kindergarten, Rachel continues to extend her professionalism and passion to YueCheng Courtyard Kindergarten and to every child in the kindergarten. Her philosophy of education is that all children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. It is her desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential.
As an expat teacher, Rachel and the Chinese teachers and assistant teachers act as collaborators, observers and creators, observing what each child likes to do, listening to what each child says, not missing each moment of growth and leading the children to see a broader future and world through the integration of multicultural backgrounds and the collision of educational ideas.
Clayton Burt
Principal of YueCheng Courtyard Kindergarten
Clayton Burt is a school leader with experience in international schools in Europe and Asia. Most recently, he worked at an international school in Beijing, where he was the Head of the Early Years School for three years. Clayton received his Bachelor of Arts in Early Years from the Open University UK. Then he received his Certificate in Early Years Practice and a Foundation Degree in Early Years. He is also certified in Level 3 Child Protection from EduCare and completed IEYC curriculum training with Fieldwork Education.
Since assuming the position of director of YueCheng Courtyard Kindergarten, he has led the whole team to continuously move towards the top international kindergarten track worldwide. He has had conversations with the principal of Fuji Kindergarten Sekiichi Kato. During the talk, more than 30 top Japanese kindergarten directors, school board members, and professional investors joined the discussion about the development of the global early childhood education community and the growth and future of education and children.
In addition, under Clayton's leadership and guidance, YueCheng Courtyard Kindergarten has begun the process of accreditation as a CIS (Council of International Schools) member institution and may become the first CIS internationally accredited single kindergarten in China. Under Clayton's guidance, YueCheng Courtyard Kindergarten has made its voice heard time and time again, and the Chinese early childhood education community continues to be "seen" by the world.
QiongQiong Wu
YueCheng Courtyard Kindergarten Curriculum Coordinator
QiongQiong has worked in international education for around 17 years. She has worked as a kindergarten curriculum coordinator, PYP curriculum coordinator, and Chinese teacher teaching across elementary to high school. She also has rich experience in early childhood education. She has participated in the establishment of curriculum optimization and reform, which has given her a deep understanding of the integration of theoretical guidance and practical teaching.
Taking on the responsibility of being the leader of the teacher team, QiongQiong shares her personal educational insights with teachers, guides the development of teaching goal plans, and leads the teacher team to work together to promote curriculum development and innovation, designing and implementing cutting-edge curricula that are better suited to the development of Chinese early childhood education.
At the same time, she supports individual teachers and teacher teams in personalized skill development through thematic training formats such as traditional culture and pedagogy interpretation. In addition, from the perspective of an observer and leader of front-line teaching, QiongQiong also pays close attention to the environment of the school as a way to support children in building a sense of comfort and security, and to enrich their learning experiences, growth experiences and deep learning.
