Fun in the Sun: Top Family-Friendly Events for Everyone to Enjoy

Going back to work or school after a long holiday weekend can be challenging, but it doesn't mean the fun has to end with the holiday. There are quite a few super fun family-friendly events happening in the next few days here in the capital that are worth checking out:



Chaoyang KaiWen Academy

Open House

Chaoyang KaiWen Academy sincerely invites parents to participate in a face-to-face talk in on May 4 with the principals to fully understand KaiWen’s teaching philosophy, curriculum settings, and school environment, and to learn more about the future of international education.

Children’s Art Class

With Maria Kuzikova

Beijing Experience

Calligraphy Class

The family-friendly Beijing tour guide Cesar is back with an authentic Chinese calligraphy class in the hutongs this Saturday. This 1.5 hour class will introduce you to the secrets of this ancient Chinese art with experienced, native teachers. Maximum of 8 kids, aged 5 years and up. Daystar Academy

Sports Day

Sign your budding basketball enthusiast up for an exclusive coaching opportunity with Chinese Basketball Association champion Yang Wenyu at this super fun sports carnival at Daystar Academy. There will also be lots of carnival games and food! For adults, there will also be a touch rugby event as well as a Spin-a-thon. The best part? All proceeds go to charity!

Cooking Classes

for Kids at EAST

Cooking classes for kids are available every Saturday and Sunday at EAST Beijing. In May, kids will learn how to make sushi. Price is RMB 188/kid and includes one glass of fresh juice. For bookings and reservation, add: EBJ-RB

If you’re an educator looking for teaching supplies or a parent who simply needs stuff for their kid, you should be able to find everything you need at this year’s Preschool and Kindergarten Supplies Expo. CISB

International Fair

CISB International Fair will take place on May 13 from 10am until 3pm. The International Fair is a celebration of the diverse cultures of the school, and families are welcome to join.


The event will feature a variety of food, games, music, and performances from all around the world. Please know that that will be a variety of vendors providing services. This is a great opportunity for families to come together and learn about different cultures and traditions. For more information, and to register, please scan the QR code on the poster.

Wuyue Festival

- German Camping,

Food and Sports Day

The German Chamber of Commerce in China, North China will be hosting a new event on May 20 – the Wuyue Festival. There will be delicious German food, beer, fun family-friendly sports to play, an all-day charity flea market, pop-up stores, relaxing yoga, unique African fitness dance, and many more activities for everyone. You can bring your own picnic mat and even a tent to enjoy the sunshine and warm breeze in May!

& Lunch Time Yoga

With Marie

Join Marie and other moms for a light outdoor circuit training in Chaoyang Park! The sessions consist of cardio, strengthening, and toning full-body exercises, integrating your baby and the stroller. You meet other moms and get to enjoy a great community! Trial classes available. Marie also teaches yoga at Avisha Space, so you might want to join her on Thursdays for quick lunch break stretching sessions. Scan the QR codes on the posters to sign up.

Broadway

Musical Theatre

Peter Ferrell is a Broadway musical teacher with national and international experience on film, stage, and television. The musical theatre program has been developed to help prepare students to become multi-skilled performers, and focuses on acting, singing, and dancing. Let your kid join the Little Walker’s Club and enjoy the nice weather this weekend in Chaoyang Park with Maria Pieters and other little explorers.
