Wonder what goes on behind the hallowed walls of your kids’ schools? We do! So we asked around some of Beijing’s top international schools to find out what the students and the community have been up to recently – here’s what we learned.
WAB Speaker Series
Western Academy Beijing (WAB) had the chance to host Baba the Storyteller, a touring professional presenter, author, and educator. Baba’s visit brought together our students, teachers, and parents, building community and connection through the art of storytelling and song. Students have expressed that these experiences have helped them forge deeper connections to their learning, leading to enhanced understanding. They have also shared how much they have learned from Baba’s stories and the valuable morals they convey, prompting self-reflection both during and after their time with him. Baba is not only a practitioner of the ancient West African oral historian’s craft known as Jaliyaa but also a passionate advocate for inclusion. His five-day collaboration with WAB has left the school community feeling empowered and inspired.
Tsinghua International School
Open House
Last month, Tsinghua International School (THIS) held an Open House and welcomed more than 200 parents. The parents were met by primary student ambassadors who guided them on a school tour and helped with translation. Parents were delighted to experience the unique characteristics of THIS education model – a genuine and refined blend of Western and Chinese culture. Furthermore, parents were actively engaged in and stimulated by immersive workshops of responsive classes.
CISB U19 Volleyball
Tournament Success
The Canadian International School of Beijing (CISB) U19 Boys and U19 Girls Volleyball teams showcased their athletic prowess in the recent ISAC Tournament.
The girls faced fierce competition, securing 2nd place after a single defeat. Meanwhile, the boys displayed exceptional skill, beating all their opponents and winning the gold medal.
Both teams traveled to Qingdao in early November for the ACAMIS Blue Division Volleyball Championship, facing tough opponents in round-robin play. The U19 Girls made history by clinching the 1st place title in ACAMIS. The U19 Boys exhibited resilience and determination, bouncing back after initial defeats and securing a bronze medal with a victory over Dulwich College Suzhou.
