With the capital's temperatures taking a dive, we wouldn't blame you for hankering after some hearty, warming food. Enter fondue, the melted delight that's a hug in a bowl during winter. Who can resist dunking fresh veggies and crusty bread into a pot of velvety melted cheese? To help satisfy your fondue cravings, we've compiled a list of some of the best spots in town to enjoy this cheesy delight.

abboCCa

Fans of Courtyard No.4 will find abboCCa a highlight with its vibrant orange decor, making it a go-to for food enthusiasts in Sanlitun or those seeking Italian delights. With winter making its presence felt, abboCCa has introduced its warming winter fondue. For just RMB 188, you get to plunge into a pot of cheesy heaven. The dipping selection includes rosemary-flavored bread, ham, broccoli, shrimp, and even fried meatballs.

Apart from their fondue, don't miss out on abboCCa's mushroom and sausage pizza (RMB 98) and seafood spaghetti.

Lucky Street isn't reserved for those yearning for Japanese sashimi or yakitori; it also houses a German-style restaurant for when you fancy a change. A bakery shop, South German Bakery, is on the ground floor, and the restaurant takes up the second floor. This establishment, with its rustic wooden decor, offers hearty portions. Along with classic German sausages and sauerkraut, their fondue features traditional Swiss cheese. For RMB 288, you get a set meal that lets you dip broccoli, pears, potatoes, and bread into as much bubbling fondue as your heart desires.

This stalwart of Dongdaqiao has been a Beijing favorite for 19 years. La Taverne dishes up classic French fare, including everything from escargot to duck confit. However, their fondue stands out with a wide variety of melted cheese options. There are a variety of cheeses to choose from for the set, so if you're in the mood for something bold, try their blue cheese base. If not, you can always go more traditional. Their fondue accompaniments range from pickles and carrots to diced ham. For dessert, don't miss their dark chocolate tart!
