Want To Try Out a School Before You Commit? Now You Can!

At first, I didn’t quite get it, but now the more I think about it the more it makes sense. Choosing a school is a big deal. In a way, it’s like jumping into a relationship, and with any healthy relationship that’s based on love, you’ve got to try it out before you jump in and make a big commitment.
So that’s where I found myself when I saw that AISB-Hope International (AISB) and Dulwich College Beijing (DCB) both have introduced a trial class concept for prospective students. What a great idea! You get to look past the marketing materials and judge the experience for yourself.
AISB is bringing back what they call “Knight for a Day” – a fully immersive AISB experience for prospective students that they first introduced back in 2016. They invite prospective students to spend a full day immersed in their school life. They’ll attend classes and get a first-hand feel for what it’s like to be a part of the Hope family. For students who want to join the program, they offer it at your convenience.
But AISB-Hope International isn’t the only school offering students a chance to really try them out before officially becoming a part of the community. Dulwich College Beijing also offers prospective students what they call “tater classes” for a real DCB experience.
With the next one taking place on Apr 17 for their senior school from 9 am to noon, students can participate in two 30-minute classes with four subjects to choose from: science, psychology, Spanish, and creative media. These classes are intended for students between the ages of 11-16.
For the younger kids, there’s a parents-only info session taking place at DCB the following day on Apr 18 at 2.30 pm. This will be a workshop where DCB explores the challenges of reading and writing in English for second language learners, and where you’ll get to learn more about the DCB support and techniques firsthand. They’ll also be taking the time to talk to parents to give suggestions and advice on how they can best support their child’s development of reading and writing at home.
