Last week, a young woman died from leukemia, passing away on her hospital bed in the middle of her wedding with a bouquet in her hand, a ring on her finger, and her fiancé at her side.

The ceremony took place on August 12th at a hospital in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province. The 32-year-old bride, Xiao Hui, had been battling leukemia for the past eight years. Two years ago, she met Yang Feng and the two quickly fell in love. Yang began using whatever time that he could get off work to accompany Xiao Hui on her many trips to the hospital.

However, on August 10th, doctors informed Xiao Hui that her condition had become critical. Knowing that getting married was one of his girlfriend’s biggest dreams, Yang decided that they would hold a wedding in the hospital before it was too late.

By the afternoon of August 12th, Yang was ready, putting on a tux, distributing out wedding candies, and waiting outside Xiao Hui’s hospital room with a ring, saying that once she woke up he would go in and put the ring on her finger.

Unfortunately, Xiao Hui’s condition suddenly grew worse. Instead of Yang, doctors rushed into her room to try to save her life. When they knew that nothing more could be done, they allowed Yang inside. In Xiao Hui’s last moments, Yang put the ring around his bride’s finger and gave her a bouquet.

“I only wish that I had gotten to know her earlier,” he says afterward.

A few days later, a funeral was held for Xiao Hui. In footage from the ceremony, Yang is seen kneeling beside her grave and crying, asking Xiao Hui not to reincarnate too quickly and to wait for him. He had a message inscribed on her tombstone. It reads: “You may walk out of my world, but you’ll never walk out of my life.”
