Zhu Xiang

Born in a small coastal town of west Guangdong province in 1991, Zhu Xiang graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. She lives and works in Guangdong.

In recent years, she has been tracing the “family history” of the South, feeling the fate of the floating individual, and has begun to look at the “unknown” who actually existed, towards the conflicts, blanks, and errors of history. She focuses on the missing information in history and the intertwined power relations behind it, while at the same time excavating the past that has been obscured by significant historical moments from the forgotten and neglected landscapes.

Zhuo Ying

Zhuo Ying graduated from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (GAFA) in 2002, majoring in Oil Painting.

She received her master's degree in Animation from the Academy of Art University in 2006. Zhuo has been teaching at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts since 2007 and now works and lives in Guangzhou.

Zhuo's artistic creation has always been a channel for her to express and record her daily experience, like a visual diary, presenting the various thoughts hovering in her mind. She infuses many personal reflections and emotions into her artworks, and uses some unconventional objects to communicate, embedding symbolic meanings in many signs in her picture. She takes the people and things she encounters in life, as well as the fragments of her thoughts to compose an image for reading, association, or reflection in the form of fables and imaginative fantasies. These private images are more like a romanticized lyricism.
