SSE Weekly Colloquium | 理工学院系列研讨会邀请
The School of Science and Engineering (SSE) is committed to creating a platform for students and faculty members to exchange ideas and explore cutting-edge research developments in various fields of science and engineering. Starting from 2021 fall, SSE will organize the "Weekly Colloquium" series of seminars every Friday. Each week, SSE will invite our faculty members and distinguished guest speakers from outside the University to conduct academic seminars.
All students and faculty members are invited to join the weekly colloquium!

Abstract
Stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) and related random fields provide models for a wide range of natural phenomena. They play an important role in probability theory and various areas of mathematics and mathematical physics. For example, the stochastic heat equation arises in the studies of polymers, growth of random interfaces, and interacting particle systems. This talk is focused on the random field approach for studying SPDEs. I will talk about the modulus of continuity and strong local nondeterminism of the solutions to SPDEs, and explain how these tools are useful for the analysis of their polar sets and fractal properties.

The Speaker
Prof. Cheuk Yin Lee received his B.Sc. and M.Phil. degrees from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2014 and 2016, and his Ph.D. degree from Michigan State University in 2020. Before joining CUHK-Shenzhen in August 2023, he had worked as a post-doc at EPFL for two years and as an assistant professor at National Tsing Hua University for one year. His research interests are in probability theory and stochastic analysis, with focus on stochastic partial differential equations, random fields, and their applications.
