他混淆了一个时代的结束和开始 | 孙彦初个展《显影绘》
两年前的秋天，位于北京 798 艺术区的 UCCA 尤伦斯当代艺术中心，发生了一场关于绘画的当代性问题的讨论，在这次讨论中，画家、作家、艺术评论家陈丹青说到：
In the autumn of 2017, Ullens Center for Contemporary Art organized a discussion about the contemporaneity of painting. In that discussion, painter, writer, art critic Chen Danqing said:
“我非常清楚绘画是过去时的事情，但是我只会画画只能画画，所以我在做一件很矛盾的事情。绘画在我这里没有问题，我不会说绘画死亡论，绘画一定还会有人再画下去，一定还会有天才不断地出现，但是否还会有‘绘画会很光荣’的情况出现，不太会了。”
“I’m fully aware of painting belongs to the past. But the only thing I can do is paint, so I’m actually doing a contradict thing. I’ll never say painting is dead. There must be other people still paint and genius still comes out. But whether we continue has a glory era for painting? I doubt that.”
两年后的这个夏天，Temple 东景缘画廊新晋展览，来自艺术家孙彦初的《显影绘》，似乎对两年前的那场讨论，提供了一个新的答案。
Two years later, this summer. The new exhibition in Temple gallery Beijing. “Developer Paintings” an exhibition of new works by artist Sun Yanchu. It offers a new answer for the discussion two years ago.
在他的作品中，你能同时捕捉到绘画和摄影两种艺术形式的痕迹，艺术家孙彦初融合了二者的能量，于是诞生出一种全新的语境和美学感受，一次绝无仅有的崭新体验。
In his works，you can simultaneously feel the energy both from painting and photography. These two things from two different eras and they overlap, mingle and digest with each other then bring out the new experience. Artist Sun Yanchu mixed these two different eras and give birth to a whole new context of art and feeling. A rare and magnificent experience.

Temple Gallery Beijing and M97 are pleased to present “Developer Paintings” an exhibition of new works by artist Sun Yanchu. "Developer Paintings" presents thirty unique works never before exhibited from the artist's darkroom painting series created over the last year in cooperation with an artist residency at Temple Beijing.

在此次展出的“显影绘”系列作品中，艺术家以摄影媒介为原料创作了他的化学绘画和暗房冲印。孙彦初的摄影植根于传统摄影，创作方式实际上不是用镜头和相机拍摄，而是用化学、相纸和画笔作为摄影创作。
In this ongoing series of “Developer Paintings” the artist takes on the photographic medium as the raw material for his chemical and darkroom paintings. Rooted in the traditional media of photography, Sun Yanchu’s photographs are in fact not works made by lens and camera, but made with chemistry, paper and paintbrush.
在经过此种技术的几次实验后，孙彦初用画笔和经验直觉来控制化学物质、温度、光照和显影过程，从而展现出他的显影作品中独特的效果。
After several experiments with this technique, Sun Yanchu works with brush and intuition to control the chemicals, temperature, light exposure and developing process to bring out the unique effects found in his developer paintings.
他说，这种创作的过程和显影后的结果——黑墨的层次和颜色的渐变效果——非常像中国传统的绘画和书法，艺术家从小就接触到这些。孙彦初的“显影绘”作品融合了他对中国传统绘画和西方现代摄影创造的热情。
The artist says the process of this creation and the results after development - the layers of black ink and color gradation effect - very much resemble traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy, which the artist has been exposed to since childhood. Sun Yanchu’s ‘Developer Painting’ works are a mixture of his passion for both traditional Chinese painting and the modern western invention of photography.

孙彦初以摄影为基础进行创作，曾获得过连州国际摄影年展2011年度新摄影奖、MIO摄影奖评审员（森村泰昌）特别奖。曾出版过《沉溺于此》、《虚构集》，《不够漫长》是他最新一本单行本作品集，其新系列作品展览也将于5月26日起东景缘同期进行。
Sun started his art creation in the base of photography. He has won Lianzhou Foto 2011 New Photography Award and MIO PHOTO AWARD 2010 JURORS AWARD（MORIMURA Yasumasa）Special Award. His new exhibition will be open at Temple Gallery Beijing from May 26th.
牛婕，影像收藏家，华辰拍卖影像研究专家，资深影像艺术品经济人。策划 “中国摄影史上重要的摄影书”、“当代摄影手工书”、“民国摄影文献”、“红墙里最后专职摄影师杜修贤镜头下的‘共和国岁月’”等专题拍卖。其中杜修贤作品以241.5万元成交，成为目前国内影像艺术品拍卖市场上成交价第一位。
Niu Jie, Photographs Collector, a researcher at Huachen Auctions’Photographs Department, Senior Photographs economist. Auctions she organised in the past include”lmportant Photobooks in the History of Chinese Photography”,” Contemporary Handmade Photobooks”,” Photobooks of the Republic of China”and “Memories of the Republic: Works of Du Xiu-xian, the Last Photographer from behind the Red Wall.” Among these auctions, the photography of Du Xiu-xian was sold for 2,415,000 RMB, which still holds the record on the photography market in China to date.
