James Sweeney: Pushing Boundaries in Primary 推动小学教育

Term begins on Monday and we take a moment to talk to Mr James Sweeney, our new Vice Principal / Head of Primary.

新的学期从下周一开始，我们花点时间与我们新任副校长/小学校长James Sweeney先生进行交谈。

What makes Primary at YCIS Beijing stand out?

是什么让北京耀中小学部脱颖而出的？

We are a uniquely innovative school. We push educational boundaries to develop cutting edge spaces like our Learning Communities, but the whole time we are committed to maintaining academic rigor. I feel very lucky to be part of such a forward-thinking school.

我们是一所独特的创新型学校。我们推动教育的前沿发展，开发像学习社区这样的教学空间，并且我们一直致力于保持学术的严谨性。能够成为这样具有前瞻性思维的学校的一员，我感到非常幸运。

Aside from this, the most outstanding side of the school for me is the children. They are bright, interesting and talented in such a broad range of ways. They’re a real joy to work with.

除此之外，我校最为杰出的是孩子们。他们聪明、有趣、具有奉献精神，并且才华横溢。与他们合作是一种真正的快乐。

What do you consider to be your most important contribution to the Primary School?

你认为你对小学部最重要的贡献是什么？

I am very proud to be part of the team that pioneered the Primary Learning Community. The space itself was the result of a lot of work and planning, and when it was completed it required a strong and dedicated team to use it in the best way possible. Now, the Learning Community is used brilliantly every day to deliver an outstanding learning experience for our children. I think this is an immense achievement for our Primary team, and the school at large.

我很自豪能够成为开创小学学习社区团队中的一员。空间本身是大量工作和规划的结果，当它完成时，则需要一个强大而专注的团队以尽可能好的方式利用它。现在，学习社区每天都得到很好的利用，为孩子们提供极佳的学习体验。我认为这对我们的小学团队和整个学校来说是一项巨大的成就。
