As the saying goes, good preparation today is the base for a successful tomorrow. Therefore, a whole school day was dedicated to our future Year 7s on June 21st in preparing them to start their Secondary journey next school year. Our head of Secondary, Ms Hayley Edge, our Lower Secondary Coordinator Ms Gillian Wong as well as our Chinese integrators, Ms Catherine Deng and Amy Zhi welcomed the students in an online session to guide the students in how to become more independent and self-reliant learners. They demonstrated to the students how the Secondary curriculum involves increased levels of teamwork and collaboration and how it is important to incorporate everyone’s opinion in more research-based tasks. 

俗话说的好，机会是留给有准备的人。6月21日学校为小学六年级的学生准备了整整一天的小升初过渡准备日。中学部主管Hayley Edge女士，初中部主管Gillian Wong女士和中文合作老师邓智老师和支亚虹老师给六年级的学生开办了线上体验课，指导同学们如何成为一个独立自主的学习者。老师们向学生们展示了中学课程如何涉及更高水平的团队合作和协作，以及在更多基于调研的任务中纳入每个人的意见是多么重要。

The introduction was followed by three taster classes in Life Skills, Humanities, and Science led by Year 7 teachers, Mr Giuseppe Tagliarini, Ms Adina Ondere, Ms Vicki Small and Mr Joseph Muraga. The students were able to actively use their new learning platform of Teams, meet their new teachers, test their knowledge, and gain more confidence in what to expect in each subject.

中学课程介绍环节之后是三个科目的体验课，包括Giuseppe Tagliarini老师, Adina Ondere老师, Vicki Small老师和Joseph Muraga老师教授的生活技能课、人文课和科学课。体验日中同学们会主动使用学习平台Teams跟老师见面、检测自己的所学、了解更多下一学年的学科知识。

Who would be a better teacher than someone who has experienced the same transition? Year 7 ‘student experts’ were invited to a closing session to give the Year 6s valuable first-hand advice, name key differences and speak about the highlights of being a Secondary student. We trust that after this transition day our Year 6 students are well prepared for their new independence and their new responsibilities. If some students still had daunting thoughts about transitioning, Ms Hayley Edge dispelled all worries, “We will be there to support you. Everyone was new to Secondary school at some point.”

谁会比有过类似经验，走过相同道路的人更加适合当老师呢？七年级的“学生专家”在小升初体验日被邀请为六年级的学生提供宝贵的建议、分享中小学的区别及中学生活的亮点。我们相信整整一天的体验日会帮助六年级的学生们准备好面对更独立的学习和新的责任。如果还有学生对中学生活有一些担忧，那么相信Hayley Edge老师的话可以打消你的忧虑，“每位老师都会为你提供支持，因为对于所有学生来说中学生活都是崭新的。”
