很高兴每隔一个周四就在育音堂上演一场音乐狂欢，邀请乐队在周末到来之前为观众带来一些措手不及的震撼体验一直是我的荣幸。举办这些演出的过程中最棒的事情，就是这给了我机会看看新乐队表现如何！而在这一点上我从未失望过。令我感到意外的一点——我花了这么长时间才看到黑莉莉，明明他们演出颇勤——这回他们带来了一支又一支紧凑的表演；枕头房子呢，把房子都弄塌了，以他们对垃圾摇滚、后朋克、噪音摇滚的狂热混合给毫无防备的观众留下了深刻的印象。而UNTERWASSER为听众带来做得很好的Cold Wave——具有一种膨胀的乌托邦氛围和令人垂涎的工业感。再次感谢育音堂，感谢所有的乐队，以及前来支持的观众们。

It’s been a pleasure throwing myself into a musical frenzy every other Thursday over at Yuyintang, inviting bands to give audiences a jolt before the weekend looks to overwhelm. One of the best parts of setting up these gigs is the ability to check out new acts and they did not disappoint. 

I’m still shocked that it’s taken me this long to check out Hey! Lily! - likely one of the hardest-working bands on the scene at the moment. They’re tight as they come - rocking old school vibes with gleeful conviction and robust musicality. Garage rock, pop punk - however you cut it - it’s unadulterated fun (the all-white suits were the perfect chef’s kiss) that never loses its focus and keeps the energy high throughout. 

I had booked Hangzhou’s Pillow Case only based on a couple of tracks on Netease - so I was coming in blind. And what a treat it is to come in blind to something as wickedly fun and riotous as a band like this. A spiked cocktail of grunge, post punk, noise rock, and other elements - it’s giddily all over the place - held afloat by its sharp edges and a streak of mischievousness. Can’t wait to have them back. 

Last but not least was UNTERWASSER - the latest cold wave act to emerge out of the ashes of SINK. It’s a vibe - but damn do they hit it well - ‘submerged brooding dystopian vibes coated with layers of cold wave agony and post punk intrigue’ that creeps under your skin. While too often acts minimize their cold wave attributes to its bare minimum, UNTERWASSER feels fully formed - utilizing guitars, dueling vocalists, and more - even dovetailing into a simmering drummer-backed wall of noise for its last track. 

Once again - thanks to Yuyintang, all the bands, and the patrons who came out to support. Next stop - Yuyintang Park on December 1st with some of my favorite new acts this year.
