Chunyang Yao 姚春旸 - Post-Oblivion 泯默集

Guangzhou based multidisciplinary artist Chunyang Yao, a Naxi artists hailing from the southwestern city of Lijiang, finds commonality amongst the the Ainu indigenous people of Hokkaido, Japan - merging their cultures, sounds, and struggle to survive on the ‘margin of modernity’ on her latest release Post-Oblivion 泯默集, released with London-based Dusty Ballz. Showcasing the artists’s almost sociological melding of field recordings, analog synth drone, and bewitching vocals - the first half of the album distorts and subverts ‘musical cues from Hokkaido’s natural soundscape’ whilst the second half is a haunting and mesmerizing long-form improvisation of voice, noise samples, and synthesisers’ with Yao as it’s shaman, leading listeners deeper into an entanglement of oblivion. 

来自广州的多学科艺术家姚春旸，是一位来自西南城市丽江的纳西族人，与日本北海道的阿努伊原住民找到了共鸣点——她在伦敦厂牌 Dusty Ballz 发行的最新专辑《泯默集》中，融合了他们的文化、声音和在“现代性边缘”的生存斗争。这张专辑的前半部分，她扭曲变形并颠覆了“来自北海道自然声景的音乐线索”——展示了艺术家对于几乎社会学的田野录音、模拟合成器嗡鸣和迷人人声的融合。后半部分则是一个令人难忘且着迷的长篇即兴（由人声、噪音采样和合成器组成），姚则充当了音乐的萨满，引领观众深入湮没纠缠中。

Li Jianhong李劍鴻  &  Wen Zhiyong文智湧 & Deng Boyu 鄧博宇 - 歲寒三友 Les Trois Amis de l'hiver 

‘Three musicians who have never stopped exploring their respective fields’ - the latest improvisational encounter preserved by WV Sorcerer features noise guitar demigod Li Jianhong, drummer Deng Boyu and trumpeter/sound artist Wen Zhiyong. Recorded in the midst of the pandemic and lockdown in Beijing, "Les Trois Amis de l'hiver (Three Friends of Winter)" finds a rich interplay amongst the seasoned veterans - a spellbinding improvisational symphony of musical dissonance - as high-pitched guitar shockwaves clash and merge with droning trumpet and sax (Wen Zhiyong using what I believed to be a digital vape-sized sax) and pummeling yet graceful free jazz drums. Both subtle and absorbing, it’s a dynamic and atmospheric addition to the musicians’ ever growing catalogue. 

“三位在各自领域没有停止过探索的音乐人”——由巫唱片出品的最新即兴现场，由噪音吉他半神李剑鸿、鼓手邓博宇和小号手/声音艺术家文智湧组成。《岁寒三友》录制于北京疫情封控中期，发掘了这些经验老道的乐手间丰富的化学反应——一组迷人的不和谐音乐即兴交响曲——高亢的吉他冲击波与小号和萨克斯（我确信文智湧使用的是电子烟大小的萨克斯）与猛烈而优雅的自由爵士鼓点相互碰撞融合。既细微又引人入声，是音乐家们不断扩展的发行目录中一个富有动态又宏大的补充。

Li Hongqi and Yang Haisong 李红旗和杨海崧 - Noise Concerto for Violin and Guitar

Over the past six months post punk godfather Yang Hailing has been quietly releasing a collection of atmospheric albums, under the small Beijing label Share the Obstacles, pushing the renowned artist’s avant-garde sensibilities to the forefront. Combining his poetic prose with ambient, experimental and noise music, his latest aptly titled ‘Noise Concerto for Violin and Guitar’ teams him up with cult independent film director Li Hongqi. While the former’s weapon of choice is guitar and theremin, the latter turns up the dissonance via a violin - a fine counterpart to Haisong’s shrieking guitars, cosmic theremin noodling, and deadpan musings which pad out the nearly hour long sonic excursion. 

在过去的六个月里，后朋教父杨海崧一直在悄悄地发行一系列恢弘的专辑，北京的小厂牌分享障碍将这位著名艺术家的前卫感觉推到了最极端。他的诗意散文与氛围、实验和噪音相结合，最新作品 Noise Concerto for Violin and Guitar  与 cult 独立电影导演李红旗合作。前者选择的武器是吉他和特雷门琴，而后者则通过小提琴提高了不和谐的程度--与海崧的啸叫吉他、宇宙特雷门琴噪音和冷面沉思相呼应，为近一小时的声音之旅做了铺垫。
