Guangzhou’s Sprint Nouvelle are a strangely beguiling new addition to China’s music scene - a delightfully offbeat offering of avant-pop act that calls to mind everyone from Rufus Wainwright to Bane’s World. From the vintage synthesizers sounds that give the tracks a lofi bedroom pop feel to the jazzy hip-hop grooves that float around the edges of each track - the whole endeavor is held afloat by frontman Huhu’s almost operatic intonation - flamboyantly charming. In another band’s hands this is the kind of music that would be busting at the seams, but Sprint Nouvelle seems to relish it’s abstract, wistful and theoretical world it resides in.

Future Orients 飛去來 - Fine 好的

Beijing’s Future Orients throw caution to the wind on their unkempt and moody sophomore LP - Fine - Maybe Mars. All but abandoning their dance punk roots, the indie rock band seems to have chipped away at their boyish charms - instead, leaning into the existential angst of adulthood with chaotic pose. It doesn’t always work - particularly in the way its tin-can vocals ring against the more psych-laced garage rock arrangements. Yet it’s within those rough edges where Future Orients’ latest comes alive - as the band jumps recklessly in thornier, heavier, and murkier waters.

lost memory machine - Vanilla Sky

Melancholic yet bursting with a vibrantly lit and dreamy aesthetic, the latest from Beijing duo lost memory machine, Vanilla Sky, is deftly crafted electro-indie pop. Consisting of David Carey (of Nocturnes) and singer-songwriter Soli Ling, their sound is a delicately weaved tapestry of electronica, slick yet ethereal guitar chords, and airy vocals which sway alongside its inviting and serene rhythms. A lucid audial daydream, lost memory machine has a weightless quality to it - one that’s easy to get swept up in. 

忧郁而又迸发活力，并且兼具梦幻般的美感，来自北京二人组失忆机器的最新作品 Vanilla Sky 是一部巧妙制作的电子-独立流行乐。由 David Carey（Nocturnes 乐队）和唱作人所栗组成，他们的声音是一张精致的织锦，由电子乐、顺滑空灵的吉他和弦、伴着迷人宁静节奏摇摆的空灵的人声编制而成。作为一场清晰的听觉白日梦，失忆机器有一种失重的特质——很容易就让人沉浸其中。
