每隔一段时间，我的心就会被盯鞋与梦幻流行音乐重新点燃。就像一团突如其来的火焰，我渴望让自己完全沉浸在这绵延不绝、激昂咆哮的音墙之中；而那永恒不变的人声和冲动的吉他成为我的灯塔，轻柔地引导我穿越无边深渊。今年夏末，我和我的音乐伙伴Celia（或者你可以叫她泥菩萨）再次一头扎进了这个“兔子洞”，在中国大陆探寻这一风格的新面孔。我们的发现让人振奋：盯鞋、梦幻流行及其邻近Genre在中国的音乐场景中依然活力四溢！

于是，一场名为“月光浴”的演出便诞生了。我们特邀了两支备受瞩目的新乐队——分别是来自泉州的The Curly和来自宁波的Tardis。The Curly呈现了更多的细腻与微妙，主唱的空灵嗓音与浓郁的吉他音墙完美融合，其中涌动的情感暗流会使你猝不及防。与此同时，Tardis的声音则更具有冲击性，更加青涩——稍微有点混沌，稍微有点动荡——兼具迷人的旋律和噪音流行的张力，足以让人一听倾心。请密切关注这两支乐队，他们即将有些大动作呢。

代表老一派的是City Flanker——对于这一流派有着自己源远流长的热爱——他们的音乐风格随着时间的推移而不断演变，从synthpop到citypop都有涉足。在他们即将发布新LP的节点，能与他们重聚真是一件愉快的事。

总之，这是让人难以忘怀的一夜音乐盛会。感谢育音堂的精心策划，感谢所有热情洋溢的粉丝，还有远道而来的乐队。让我们一起期待下一轮蓝月升起。

Every so often my love affair for shoegaze and dream pop flairs up - a burning desire to engulf myself in wailing walls of sound whilst eternal vocals guide and roaring guitars guide me gently through the abyss. It led to my obsession with bands like Baby Formula and Skip Skip Ben Ben early on during my stint in Beijing. It led me to put out a China Shoegaze Compilation cassette tape - and a couple of years later its follow-up - Asian Shoegaze Compilation (both on bandcamp still). And countless other detours sonically here and elsewhere. 

This summer, along with my partner in crime Celia (aka 泥菩萨Clay Bodhisattva), I fell down once again into a rabbit hole - scouring the Mainland for fresh acts in the genre. And the consensus: shoegaze, dream pop, and its fair-haired siblings are alive and well in China!

Thus, Moonbath was born - featuring two new bands just waiting to take the scene by storm - The Curly out Quanzhou and Tardis, who hail from Ningbo. The former employs a more delicate touch - led by it’s lead singer’s ethereal voice which is deftly integrated into its wall of guitars. Music to sway to with an emotional undercurrent that’ll catch you off guard. 

Meanwhile, Tardis has a punchier adolescent veneer to their sound - a bit muddier, a bit more turbulent - with a melodic noise pop sensibility that sweeps you off your feet. Keep your eyes peeled for these two - great things await them.  

Representing the old guard was City Flanker (featured on that 2015 shoegaze compilation album) - who have had their own tepid love affair with the genre - evolving and molding their sound into new shapes and expressions over the years - with everything from synth pop to city pop finding its way in. It was a pleasure to catch up with them as they approach the release of the new LP (to be released before the year is up).  

A magnificent night of music - a big thank you to Yuyintang, all the fans who came out to support, and to the bands who made the journey to have their music heard. Till the next blue moon.
